Question about Televison & Video
Check for any obstrucion is there at its insertion slot; dust blocked, or something like that. Some fans will work outside the set, but when it position changes [horizontally or vertically], it won't work. If this is the case; the fan is defective; and should be replaced.

SOURCE: LG 50PC3D not turning on
Without seeing the unit itself and opening it up/running tests I couldn't tell you exactly what is happening, however I can offer some suggestions as to what it could be.
1) your power supply is bad. That clicking sound is the power relay coming on and going off.
2) your main board is bad. It handles a lot of your signals for powering on your set. If it's bad, the tv won't turn on correctly as it doesn't recieve all the right signals.
3) your Y or Z boards are bad. These could cause the power supply to go into shutdown if the voltages on these things are too far out of whack.
Easiest way to tell if you're going to go into your tv is to try to unplug your Y and Z boards and turn it on. If it turns on and stays on chances are one of those two boards are bad.

Unplug power cord- safety first!
check powersupply- top center right is p.s.
top left side of powersupply you'll see 5 capacitor 3300uF 10V.
see any pop up on top? replace it All with same rate or 16v is O.K.
do not use temperature rate 75c. Use 105C.
if you know how to solder. you could save $300 at least!

When the remote quits do the function buttons on the set still work? If the set is locking up I would suspect the main board. If the buttons on the set work when the remote doesn't. I would go to the store you bought it at and check the remote there on one of thier sets or go to radio shack and get a remote tester card. It may just be easier to just first replace the remote to determine if it's in the set or the remote. After all the remote will be cheaper than a service call.

Take it to a local retail store that sells LG and see if it works there on a set . If it does then you have an issue with the set. If it doesn't then replace the remote, if under warranty, call LG for a replacement remote.
