SOURCE: Welder not welding

SOunds like your ground is not connected solidly either inside the machine or at the ground clamp. Check to make sure the ground wire at the clamp is not broken then make sure the ground wire is connected solidly inside the machine.

Try replacing the circuit breaker. They can/do get weak and tend to trip before they actually reach the rated limit.

SOURCE: Lincoln Weld Pak 100 arc welder troubleshooting

There can be a switch that makes the wire electrically "dead" so it can be fed through the liner. Also suitcase style welders have a sensor wire with a clamp that must be connected for the arc to be able to be struck.

SOURCE: I have a hobart handler 120/90amp wire feed welder

I have welded countless hours with Linde & Lincoln & even a few Hobarts & the only time that I ever had the same problem was when the ground connection either to the object I was welding, or the welding cable ground wasn't good & clean & tight. Same on stick welders also. I did develop the habit of grinding not only where I was preparing to weld, but where I was placing my ground clamp & that always provided a better "frying bacon" sound as I went along the business of pushing a bead. In a welder, the only other thing than that is involved is the step-up transformer and your wire. Hope this helps.

Well, if your starter starts to turn when you hook the battery cable up, then you have hooked the cable to the wrong post on the starter. You have two large posts and one small post on the starter solenoid, the battery cable goes on the large post that has nothing else hooked to it. The other large post should have a large braided cable going into the starter motor housing. If the starter still will not turn the engine over when it is wired correctly then you will need to look closer at the flywheel ring gear.

I hook cable up to battery starter motor spins

Ok so reason that is happening is because you either have the battery terminals on backwards or you have the starter hooked up improperly .i would make sure you have the red battery cable on the positive terminal+and out the black battery terminal on negative - .if that doesn't fix your problem them you need switch wires on starter

How is the wire feed cable assy held in place at the wire feed assy on the lincoln weld pack 100?

There should be a thumbscrew or set screw in the portion of the wire feed assembly where it goes through inside of the cabinet that snugs up to the straight portion of the cable assembly.
