Question about Apex Digital LD4088 LCD TV

1 Answer

APEX LD4088 service menu (advanced menu)

Online, I read set volume to 0 (done); press mute on remote (done - mute displays); press and hold mute and menu (on side of tv) until S displays (doesn't do this - just brings up the normal menu display). I've repeatedly tried this, trying to press mute/menu at the same time, and all I ever get is the normal menu. What am I doing wrong, what else can I try?

I have my laptop plugged into the TV and the display is too large, through HDMI 1, which I understand is overscanning. I can't figure out how to turn off overscanning, or to get the service menu to render so that I can modify the h and v settings.

Try this:

  • Turn the TV off.
  • Press and hold the {VOL -} button ON THE TV and
the {TV/VIDEO} button on the remote for at least 5 seconds.
  • The TV will turn on with the Service Menu displayed.

Here's how to access the SM:

  • While the TV is in standby:
  • Press the {DISPLAY}, {5}, {VOL+} & {POWER} buttons.

I tried, no luck. TV off, held vol - and TV (no video button on remote - remote model LD220RM); no response. I tried pressing those and hitting the power button, and it just turned on as normal (with the normal menu displayed). I don't know what you mean by having the TV in "standby" mode, unless you mean if the above worked.

SOURCE: i cannot program my comcast control for an APEX

I just spoke with a rep at Apex about the comcast code for the LD4088 TV. I was told to call 1(800)284-8828 M-F for specific customer service for this TV and that if they cannot help us, the TV may be so new that we may have to wait for the next generation Comcast remote in order to control our TV with a comcast remote. Frustrating. Isn't it?

SOURCE: I have an apex ld4088 tv. And i have insight

When I bought this at Target on black Friday, I did not realize the remote was missing. I had a spare universal laying around. Went online for codes and found nothing but codes that didn't work. Bought a low-end one at Target (who refused to give me one after the TV's sold out, said all I could get was a refund but I got a GREAT price on it and didn't want to spend another 150 to replace it.) Low-end remote did not work, returned it and bought a 70 dollar remote and that didn't work either. Got fed up and called Apex, who jerked me around twice before finally telling me there is a special number if you buy it at Target. Called them and they said fax the receipt and serial number and they would mail me a new one. Did this TWICE and never got a remote, called and demanded a supervisor and explained the situation, he ask my name and info and within 5 minutes I had a conformation email with a tracking number. The aim sucks, but it's not the TV, it's the signal on the remote being weak. The supervisor told me there is only 1 universal remote2_bing.gif they know of that works with the TV since it is so new. His name is Marcus Chan and his email is acctemp@apexdigitalinc.com
Hope this helps!!!

The inverter is the usual suspect with that symptom. It may be hard to find a replacement inverter for an apex model. But you might be able to get one from www.tvrepairworld.com

I'm trying to hook up a 2-3 year old APEX Digital TV that I bought from a friend. I've gone through the set up options, but cannot get any volume at all. Any suggestions how to fix this?

Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

HOW DO I GET AN ANSWER FROM YOU PEOPLE

by asking the right question. If you ask a vague question you have a good chance of getting a vague answer .
as previously vaguely expained you have to do an auto scan
and let it complete.
This is based on your tv being connected to an antenna and being the model Apex Digital Apex LD4088 40 Class LCD HDTV - 1080p, 1920 x 1080, 16:9, 60Hz, 1800:1

You have to press menu button on your remote control when you see the message you saw on the tv screen.about Auto Scan. Then use the left and right arrows to select tv mode. Press the down arrow to select Air/Cable. Press the left or right arrow to select Air if antenna and Cable if it is a cable service. Once you have selected Air or Cable press the down arrow to select auto scan . If air then press right arrow on the remote (if cable then press enter on the remote)
This is explained on page 18 of the tv user manual

Apex model #AT2704S front panel buttons stop working? Menu, channels, volume, and power? Also has a red key in lower left corner and the screen is blue. I have tried mute and function buttons on univ

Your Apex TV has been locked by anyway. Just try this method to unlock it.
Apex TVs have parental locks that allow you to block certain programs based on
their rating. When this feature is no longer needed and you want your TV to display all programming no matter its rating, you must unlock your TV. Unlocking your Apex TV is done completely from your remote control and does not require any tools. The process takes less than 5 minutes.
• Press the "Menu" button on the remote control and use the arrow buttons to scroll down to the "Parental Guide" option, then press the "Enter" button.
Type in the default parental code "6688" if you have not set your own code. If you have set your own code, type it in. If you set your own code and forgot it, override it by using "6688."
Use the arrow keys to switch the parental lock to "OFF." This allows all programs to be viewed no matter the rating. Press the "Exit" button on the remote and start watching all your channels.

Can't see scrolling text or sport scores

Here's how to fix it - I have a PF 2425, and it's driven me absolutely up the wall. Videogames are useless because you can't even see the crucial gauges etc. Likewise, subtitles and credits in films are cut off. it's ridiculous, especially considering how easy it is to fix (if you know how).

1. Decrease volume to 0.
2. Press MUTE so the tv says "MUTE" onscreen.
3. Hold MUTE on the REMOTE and MENU on the TV simultaneously until the service menu appears.

It's important not to screw around here too much. Use your arrows on the remote to navigate, the first option likely will say "MENU.0" or something like that. Use that to flip through the pages. What you're looking for are values like V Zoom, V Scroll, etc. Same goes with the H values. Toy with these a little and you'll be able to get the tv scanning perfectly.

I can confirm this worked for me! So good luck.

Cannot make horizontal and vertical size and position adjustments

OK...I paid a whole $50 for an Apex AT2702 that had [undisclosed] vertical zoom, horizontal shift, vertical shift and width issues. Before I raised hell for the person who sold it to me, I decided to first exhaust all alternative solutions.

I found that in order to tweak these settings, you have to be in service mode and must have a service manual which I can email upon request.

BE SURE TO DOCUMENT YOUR CURRENT SETTINGS SINCE ANYTHING YOU CHANGE WILL AFFECT YOUR SET'S PERFORMANCE !!!

1-Reduce your tv volume to 0
2-press the MUTE button on your original tv remote [you'll see "Mute" in red on the screen]
3-AT THE SAME TIME, press MUTE on the same remote and MENU on the tv controls.
This set your tv into service mode [there will be a red "S" at the top-center of your screen.

You'll need the table in the service manual page 47 where there are V-SHIFT, H-SHIFT, V-ZOOM, E/W WIDE default values that will need to be changed. WATCH YOUR SCREEN as you change the values to ensure you don't over do it.

If you have news ticker and sports scores issues, you'll want to be tuned to CNN, FOX, ESPN or whatever to see how your changes are applied.
If you have tv guide problems then tune to that channel or press info and see what happens when you make the changes.

BE SURE TO DOCUMENT YOUR CURRENT SETTINGS SINCE ANYTHING YOU CHANGE WILL AFFECT YOUR SET'S PERFORMANCE.

This has worked for my set and you may attempt this solution on yours at your own risk.
I'm no longer pissed off that I got a bogus tv because it now works just fine and I can see everything!

Good Luck!
