Your generator may not be able to handle the rated load. Try cutting down on the load until the generator runs without smoking.

I have a feh-015 that is in a small home with 5 registers, came from factory this way and way oversized can I run heat on first stage only?

15 kw is actually 3 stage/3 elements. Yes this would be possible depending on how handy you are. If you were to inspect your heater all 3 elements have limit switches that would turn the element off if it got too hot. Identified by a temperature rating written on the switches. Unhook one side of two of these and be sure to wrap the wire well with electrical tape. BE SURE POWER IS OFF BEFORE OPENING CABINET!!! Once complete you can always verify your amp draws each element typically draws 20 amps. Be sure your checking each line voltage. Likely have 2 breakers for a 15 kw heater, 60&30. Good luck

I have a steamist lt90 that we recently installed. It stays on for about 5 minutes then trips the breaker. It was installed using #10 wire and a 30 am breaker. Any ideas?

!!!!!First look on data plate see what is the rated amperes and kW . Make sure what code is for steam generators.

Some steam generators do not recommend GFI circuits to avoid nuisance tripping.

If you can us GFI in circuit breaker you may need two hots a ground and a neutral.

As a rule
30 amps = #10 wire
40amps = #8 wire and
50amps = # 6.

Generators normally are 240vts the two hot wires connect to # 1 and #2 wires coming from unit.

if unit is over 8 years old it has a mechanicial timer for the Cool down run time (after power comes on) these go bad from believe it not "Rust" the timer will need to be replaced with a new model , that most likely will be an electronic timer replacement , now if unit is less than 8 years old . and this is a new install then verify that ,Sense connection on terminal strip on ckt board is connected to land power

Hello i just started my 8 kw hole house generater ran greatput my electric water heater on 26 amp draw andsmoke came out exhaust vent shut it down ran again great turned only heater on again took amp

8 kW has a 35 amp breaker on the unit. A typical hot water is 4500 watts at 240 volts = 18.75 amps on each leg. If you are measuring 26 on one side and 19 on the other it should be ok. If it is shutting down you may have a fuel problem or you may need to adjust voltage if it's too low. Which model of 8 kW is it?

Unit may pull as much as 17-18amps when compressor starts up, but level out to 12-15 amps when up and running. Keeping in mind that is all relative to proper 120v incoming voltage, heavy enough wire to run the application etc. If your AC unit needs cleaning , it may draw an extra amp or 2 . With that said, when your at the park, first thing I'd question is their incoming voltage to RV, and try running fridge etc and anything else on propane if possible. The AC alone should not cause 30amp at source breaker to trip, before 15 0r 20 amp breaker in RV that is connected to AC trips. If it doesn't trip your breaker at home, and all is connected same at park, then I certainly would suspect bad breaker or voltage/wiring at park is the cause. P.S. I noticed you said you have 12 gauge wire (rated at 20 amps) connected to a 20amp breaker at panel, but RV is plugged in to a 15amp receptacle, I will assume with a 15 amp adapter from 30 amp plug. Do you see any hazard regarding 15 amp rating on receptacle? ( just a little advice.)

It sounds like the mains sense wire is disconected from the control panel or the run wire is not being cut by the aux contact on the transfer switch.
Is the transfer switch manual or motorised?

AC runs for 5 minutes and then circuit breaker

What else do you have running on hydro while AC is running? Such as coffee maker, microwave, water heater, fridge. That 30 amp breaker is your main breaker I assume, or breaker on pole your plugged in to. Keep in mind your AC will normally draw approx. 15-17+ amps momentarily when compressor kicks in to cool, then drop back to 12-15 amps when running normal. If your AC is drawing too much current, then you would only normally trip 20 amp breaker for AC in your panel. Try switching other appliances to gas operation while running AC, such as water heater, and fridge. Make sure incoming voltage is up to specs as well . (115-120 volts)
If water heater takes 5-8 amps, and fridge takes same when they are calling for power, you'll be close or over the 20amp mark when you consider your on board converter etc. as well. That only leaves approx 10 amps for AC that requires approx 15 amps to run, and up to 20amps when compressor kicks in. If you switch all those other items over to propane, and it still happens, then a current draw test should be done on AC unit to see if perhaps a capacitor is faulty, or possible compressor faulty.
