Question about Yamaha CDC-655 CD Player
All I've tried so far is changing the batteries in the remote.
CLEAN CONTACTS ON CIRCUIT BOARD BY CLEANING THEN WITH A PENCIL ERASER. SOME TIMES CONTACT SOLUTION ON BOTTOM OF THE BUTTON WEARS OFF. I BEEN NOTED TO USE NICKLE PRINT ON BOTTOM OF THE RUBBER BUTTON TO REPAIR WARN CONTACTS . PLEASE MAKE SURE NICKLE PRINT COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE PUTTING REMOTE BACK TOGETHER.

If you trust yourself enough to open the case w/o breaking stuff, then open it up UNPLUGGED, locate the laser lens (small, clear, plastic) gently clean the lens with a swab of lens cleaner for glasses.
Also clean the chrome runners that the laser assembly tracks on.
