Check by inserting an other known good disc, and make sure that the fault is not with the player [console]. If the known good disc too do not work properly, contact any service technician. Electro help

My WII will not read any disk and we do not have a menu. All it will say is unable to read disk.

Unable to Read the Disc / Disc Could Not Be Read Situation:
  • System displays either error message "Unable to read disc" or "Disc could not be read"

What to do:
  • This message may display if the disc is ejected during play. Return to the HOME Menu before changing discs.

  • If the Wii console is laying flat, verify that the system is not placed upside-down. The game disc slot should be above all three buttons and the SD Card slot.

  • Verify that the disc is being inserted properly.
    • If the console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right. Note: Only Wii consoles with model number RVL-001 are intended to be placed vertically (learn more)

    • If the console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards.

  • If the problem occurs with only one game disc, there may be a problem specific to that game. Click here to check our list of specific game issues.

Situation Not Resolved:
  • If only one Game Disc displays this error message, it will need to be replaced. Click here for Game Disc replacement options

  • If the error is occurring with most or all Game Discs or all of one type of game, then this indicates a problem with the system. The console and one or two example discs will need to be sent in for repair. Click here to begin the repair process.

Unable to read the disc game

"Unable to read the disc" or "Disc could not be read" Messages
If you are getting one of the above error messages:
    • This message can display if you eject a disc during game play. If this is when the message displayed, make sure that you return to the Wii Menu before changing discs if you wish to play a different game.

    • If your Wii console is laying flat, it may be positioned upside down. Ensure that is positioned right-side up: the game disc slot should be above all three buttons and the SD Card slot.

    • Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc. insertdisccorrect.gif
      • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
      • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards

    • Check our list of specific game issues to see if there is a known issue with that particular title.
    • If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures (click here).

If the above information did not resolve the issue or it is happening with most or all of your games, a repair is necessary. Please note: So that our technicians are able to duplicate the issue, please include at least one sample game disc that causes this message to appear when played. Click here to set up a repair.

Ps2 is unable to read disc, how do I reset the factory settings. I am hoping if I reset it that it will work

Please watch this video I have attached. The disc read error on the ps2 is a hardware problem, not something that can be fixed by a reset.Good luck!

We can't load the games. the machine is unable to read disc,

Did you check to make sure you have the disk facing the right way? If that isn't the problem then try resetting it. Open the small door that you put a SD card into. It is located on the front of the console. There is a red button in there. This is used to reset your system. Hopefully this will work.
Good luck.

Wii "unable to read disc"

If Wii gives Unreadable disc, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide

Unable to read discs

  1. Solution based on a slimline ps2
  2. Check to see if a Music cd will spin in the console
  3. Open flip lid and examine the reset switch - check to ensure the switch is intact - you are looking for a small lever which is made of lack plastic. If its not there you need a new reset switch
  4. If the laser is not moving at all you will need to open up the console (WILL OBVIOUSLY VOID YOU WARRANTY!)
  5. Check the PCB switch at the rear of the console. This part connects to the lid of the ps2 if thats is broken you will need to replace - difficult to source but they are available
  6. Check the ribbon cable underneath the PS2 Laser for any signs of damages
  7. Check the ribbon cables x 2 which attach the laser assembly to the motherboard
  8. Remove the motherboard metal shield and test the SMD (SURFACE MOUNTED) fuses on the underside of the board use a multimeter for this
  9. If your console passes all these tests the most likely cause is a blown laser which is a simple part to source via ebay etc.
  10. If your new laser does not fix your problem then you have a blown RS2004 chip which is expensive to replace and usually not economical to do.
