Question about LG Washing Machines
Bought it a couple of years ago. It's never been out of its box. Yesterday I took it out of its box, plugged in the correct inlet hoses and the correct outlet hose, turned it on... the drum starts twisting backwards and forwards without making a full cycle (normal?) and after about 20 seconds, BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP, and the letters "AE" are shown on screen, which according to the manual is a "clutch error'; the only solution offered is to call a technician. HELP!
Sounds like "Agitator Error" but the manual says it is indeed a clutch error. Sometimes on the transmission the wire connector is not secure - unplug the unit from the wall and check for bad connections. Better yet, disconnect (if you can) and re-connect each wiring connector in that area, and maybe also where they connect to on the other end.
This is a very high-tech washer, so there should not be too much that can go wrong. It could be, and it does sound like it, that the clutch plates are stuck together and it is not releasing. Look for rust or some other problem like that in the clutch area.

Hi, I don't know how to fix your problem, Lia, unfortunately, BUT wanted to say "Thank You!!" for mentioning that you can get the washer to run through the cycle by rotating the drum and switching to cold water wash! We'd tried unplugging, leaving it unplugged overnight even, but the code/beeping started immediately after plugging back in. I'm kind of longing for an old-school washer right now, thinking of all the things that can go wrong with the newer digital-age computerized ones :-) If you see this, please share what you did to solve your washer problem! Hoping it's not too expensive to fix...or I should say to GET it fixed :-\

Replace the Drain Pump. Its very cheap to replace, so do not worry. The impeller magnet was most likely damaged by a small object or normal wear & tear,
If you want to be sure, first remove it and attach power to its 2 pins.
Good Luck :-) - J.Q
