Question about Aquaflo Pool & Spa
It has to go 3 metres up, and about 20 metres across which the pump should be able to manage and more. we need it to work properly to meet tattoo studio legislation. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
New pumps need to be "Primed" in order to work also ck mfg specs to be sure your not asking pump to lift water higher than mfg data says it could "this is known as Head Pressure"
prime'ing is a procedure in that a small amount of water or liquid is added to pump head at assembly , I use mineral oil this is easyly soaked up with rag on pool top after flow is started ,but does no harm to leave it there as it's food safe

Check the strainer housing on the front of the pump for a worn out oring. If you see water swirling around the in basket, it is a good indicator that air is making it's way in past the o-ring killing the waterflow. (the prime) Replace the oring. Make sure you lube the oring with a non-petrolum silicon grease.

hi i had the same problem with my booster pump motor it hum but did not turn. to make a long story short see if there is a metal cap on the back of your motor if there is pry it off and you should get to see the shaft turn the shaft with a screwdriver if it has a notch in it or if it don't turn the shaft anyway you can and make sure it turns easy. my shaft was tight as hell but i got it to turn and it started right up again and i had no problem. the hum means it is stuck and it shuts off because the breaker is tripping and after a few seconds it will click back on again, hope this helps

sounds like the spider gasket has come out of place. Make sure the pump is off and remove the top of the valve and inspect the spider gasket (looks like a wagon wheel). If it's out of place, sometimes you can reinstall it with a silicone lubricant (clean thoroughly and lube). There should be some good spring tension and you may have to depress the selection handle to reinstall the valve. Hope this helps!
