Question about Cuisinart DCC-2650 Extreme Brew 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Appliances Cookware : One Size

1 Answer

My Cuisinart dcc-2650 extreme brew 12-cup coffee maker will no longer heat the water and thus will not brew.

It worked fine until last night. We brewed a pot of coffee as usual, but then when we tried to brew another, it would not heat the water. After a few minutes it would beep five times as if it was done, but the grounds were still dry and no water went through them. The unit was hot on the top surface, but the water supply was still in the reservoir and not hot.

Do you have the DCC-2000?

To delime a multi-cup coffee maker, mix white vinegar with water (1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water) and fill the water reservoir completely. Then turn the coffee maker on. Wait until the unit completes the "brewing" cycle and beeps 5 times. Turn off the coffee maker. Discard the liquid after the cycle. Then fill the reservoir with clean water and turn on again. When this cycle completes, again discard the liquid. Repeat the water rinse if you notice an odd taste to the coffee afterwards. (If the coffee maker still has deposits, repeat the vinegar cleaning cycle and rinse cycles.) There are commercial deliming products, mix them with water following the package directions.

The manual for the DCC-2000 is available as a link here: http://www.cuisinart.com/products/coffee_bar/dcc-2000.html . The direct link to the manual is http://www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manuals/dcc-2000.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Unplug the coffeemaker for 20 minutes or longer - not a second less - in order to fully reset it. Then, when you plug it back in, turn the function dial to Clock again. Press and hold the HR button for a few seconds, and then set the hours. It should work now unless it got zapped, as you said.

Good luck!

Leaks water out overnight

I bet it leaks from the back, right? If it does, it has the same problem as my dad's.
You have a leak in the back of the holding tank. Fill it up, turn it around, without plugging it in, and watch for the water leak. If it's in a spot that you can see, then use some caulking to seal the leak. That should work. If not, it is leaking out from inside the plastic holding tank. Not much you can do but buy a new one.

Question about cuisinart's DCC-1200 1-4 cup mode

The 1-4 cup setting actually loops the water through the heating element twice. It's a good wrokaround for people who like extremely hot coffee, but not for iced coffee fans like me.

Turn the function knob to Auto Off
Hold down the hour button til you see the clock display blinking
you can then use the Hour and Minute buttons to program how long you want the coffee maker to stay on.
You can choose from 0 minutes (seems to be what you have it set on now) to 4 hours.
