I have a very old Nutool NTG6L which is a combined grinder and 2" belt sander. Is it still possible to buy new sanding belts for this machine or is it too old?

I suggest doing a search on eBay. Depending on where you live, you may need to find them in another country. A Google search might help first but I found these on eBay Ireland.

SOURCE: belt won't stay on belt sander

Check first that you have retensioned the belt... i.e. when you removed the other belt, you would have had to pull on a spring-loaded lever to remove the belt tension before you added the new one... make sure the tension lever is flipped back in to ensure the new belt is tensioned...

Next, and the likely problem you are having, is belt tracking... There should be an adjustment knob up near the front of the sander near the front roller, either on top of the front part of the sander, or to the side near the front roller... When you turn this knob, it makes the belt track either left or right over the sander's base. This knob will allow your belt to run square and true and not spin off to one side...You need to adjust the tracking using this knob while the belt sander is running and with the new belt tensioned and in place, so turn the sander upside down, and power it on with one hand, then turn the knob with the other hand whichever way is needed to have the belt track square and in the middle of the rollers. Make small adjustments on the tracking knob to begin with. They can be sensitive at times.

That should stop your belt spinning off to one side.

SOURCE: Sanding Belt Slips Badly

Check and see if the pulleys on the sander are not glazed this somtimes will cause the belt to slip. Give them a good cleaning. If this does not help there is a good chance the spring on the belt tensioner is weak and need changed.

Hop this helps

SOURCE: Sander Belt keeps slipping off.

what I would do is using compressed air clean the underside as best you can there might be a buildup of dust not allowing the yoke to extend fully, then look at the condition of the rear roller, is should have a crown in the middle, make sure the belt tracking mechanism moves freely and I believe there was a plastic cap over the screw head to push the yoke. If it is not there it might be part of your problem. Lastly make sure if you are using directional belts that they are installed correctly, You can find a breakdown for this tool at Makitatools.com

SOURCE: broken drive belt on belt sander

My answer comes almost a year after the original question, but I'll post it anyway for those who end up here after a search.
Black & Decker no longer supplies drive belts for the BR400 sander, but you can get a replacement elsewhere if you know what to ask for.
The belt is a synchronous, single-sided "XL" series belt, and mine had 120XL031 printed on it. The belt width is 0.31in or 5/16in or 7.9mm. Its pitch (distance from tooth to tooth) is 0.20in or 1/5in or 5mm. Its total height is 0.09in, and tooth height is 0.045in. It has 60 teeth, making the total length 12in.
I found a replacement at sdp-si.com, part number A 6R 3-060031.
Look here for timing belts (inch), then narrow the search for single-sided, .200 (XL) pitch, 60 grooves, 5/16 width.

Nutool belt sander, how do l tighten up the sanding belt as it keeps on slipping off to the side? Terry

the belt will be tight but the front wheel needs realigning with the drive pulley
there is a small lever of adjuster screw on the side that by moving it when the belt running you can get the belt back to run in the correct position

How to clean a clogged belt sander

I assume you mean you want to clean the belt itself? You can use a rubber stick made for this. It looks and smells like a giant pencil eraser, about 1 inch square and about 10 inches long. However, if the belt is clogged with melted paint, that won't do much - but a stiff wire brush works OK. If the wire brush doesn't work, get a new belt. You can avoid the melted paint buildup (or at least reduce it) if you keep the sander moving rapidly over the surface, and use a good quality scraper to remove as much paint as possible before sanding.
Good luck!

Should I buy an old Delta sanding Center? Is it wise to buy an older Delta sanding center 31-730F Not all parts are still available. They want $250.00 for the sander

If it's the kind with a round disk sander and a wide belt sander, as far as I know belts and disks are still available. There is not much else to wear out. Make sure you test it before purchase.

Sanding belt will not stay in line. Slips over to the inside.

There is an adjustment screw on the side of the sander that aligns the belt. Mine has a black plastic knob on it. If adjusting this does not help, remove the belt and check to see if it is making contact with the belt roller frame. The screw on mine was too long and I had to shorten it on a grinder. If you do this, take only a little at a time, a small adjustment will move the belt quite a bit.
