Question about TP-Link Technologies TP-Link TL-MR3020 Portable Wireless-N Router

1 Answer

Why does my TL-MR3020 Portable Wireless N Router Keeping dropping out a few moments after appearing to be connected to the internet

Netbook running Windows 7 starter 32 bit - Three ZTE MF730M dongle inserted into Router. Successfully been through set-up - shows as 'connected' but above this where it shows 'currently connected to' although it starts showing 'internet access, this quickly changes to 'no internet access. I feel I'm almost there but ... could it be some incompatibility or is there something I can try please. Grateful for any assistance. Larry

Why have you two routers connected to the same network?
1. TL-MR3020 Portable Wireless N Router
2. Three ZTE MF730M dongle (router).
The problem is the router does not know which route to choose, so remove one of them and it should stop dropping out.

Remotely would imply a different building or location. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Do you mean hook it up in one room and record and watch shows in another? Or over the internet? Give more info.

My acer aspire one wont connect to internet. it says it is connected to wireless, and i have wired it to modem but the problem still persists. please help.

Based on your description, the following is assumed.
1. The service to your Internet Service Provider is through a cable or DSL modem.
2. Internet service was initially set-up with your netbook directly connected to the modem.
3. A wireless router was since added and is using the direct wired connection to the modem.
4. The netbook is connected to the wireless access point being provided by the router.
5. The netbook says it is connected to the wireless access point but still no internet access.
The problem is likely due to the modem capturing the MAC address of the netbook when access to the internet servce was initially set up using the netbook directly connected to the modem and now the modem will only allow access with the netbook directly connected to it. You can check this out by reconnecting the netbook directly to the modem. It may be possible to "flush" the captured MAC by unplugging the AC power to the modem, waiting a few minutes and then powering back up with the router connected in place of the netbook. To make it easier, you may want connect your netbook directly to the router's LAN side to check if you now have internet access through the router. If you still don't have internet access, you will need to use your netbook to log onto the router to clone your netbook's MAC address for the router's WAN connection. The router's user guide/manual has directions on logging in and doing the MAC address clone. It will also have an explanation as to what is a MAC address.

I have an acer aspire one d255 netbook and i can not connect to the internet,

did you try connecting directly with the cable?
If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS, .and I am assuming you DO have a wireless router all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ....first we have to determine if the problem is at the router or at the laptop AND at what point its getting stuck ... so first try this

try resetting the router (disconnect the power to it for a few minutes) next --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---next---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)

you are only connected to the router not the internet--the router did not assign the netbook an IP Address

If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection and running WINDOWS, (many problems with LINUX).F

First try this - try resetting the router (unplug for a few minutes) next --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---(TRY IT NOW) if still no luck then---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click on your wifi card and choose properties--highlight Internet PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?

Xomputer will inexplicably lose the signal. A few

I think the problem must be with the router. When it drops the connection, you can see other networks but not yours.
that means at that time the wireless signal on your router must not be broadcasted.
WRT160N router has issues with the firmware. Youcan try to upgrade the firmware of the router.
firmware is the software of the router.
Once you upgrade the software, unplug the power to the router and plug it back in. wait for a moment and now observe the connection.
