Hi, Grip the stylus between your thumb and forefinger. Pull the stylus down toward the front. As it comes loose replace the downward motion with a forward one. When fitting new stylus insert the tongue of the stylus into the groove in cartridge. Push it backward into place and then upward. John. Stylus City.

Reconnect the belt on an AIWA PX-E860 turntable

To replace a turntable drive belt.

Before starting any work on your turntable disconnect it from the mains power supply. Remove the stylus or complete headshell to prevent any accidental stylus damage.
1. Remove the rubber platter mat to expose the platter.
2. Put your thumb and forefinger through the two round holes either side of the centre spindle and lift the platter off. You may need to give the centre spindle a light tap (whilst applying upward pressure) with a screwdriver handle or some similar tool that will not leave any marks or damage.
3. Remove the old belt and wipe the platter and motor pulleys with an alcohol swab to remove any old belt residue.
4. Place the new belt around the platter pulley making sure it is sitting flat without any twists.
5. Flip platter over to the right way up. A correct fitting belt will stay put and an over sized belt will fall off.
6. You will see 1 or 2 large rectangle or square shaped cut outs in the platter near to the outer edge. Through one pinch up the belt and slip a finger or belt hook between the platter pulley and the belt gripping the belt ready to fit over the motor pulley.
7. Align the centre hole of the platter with the spindle and place platter back into position keeping a grip on the belt.
8. Slip belt over motor pulley and give the platter a light clockwise rotation to ensure the belt is riding correctly.
9. Replace the rubber mat and then run the turntable to ensure correct operation.
You have now successfully completed the process.

What can I use to replacemy stlus/needle?

You'll need to do an internet search for a compatible Stylus that was made for your record player. It has to match exactly. It doesn't necessarily have to be made by the same maker though, just compatible.
A search using the words "Pioneer replacement stylus" gets you: http://www.needledoctor.com/Contact/Pioneer_2 and many, many more. Try "Sanyo replacement stylus" and you get http://www.styli.co.nz/sanyo.html.
There's lots of them out there for every manufacturer/model.

Better yet, try to look up your stylus part number in your owners manual, if you still have the old one look for a part number on it. Then look it up on EBay or Amazon. It's a lot easier to track one down if you can find the part number of the original part. Since you didn't list what model record player you have you'll just have to start with the manufactures name and start from there. Lots of companies are still out there that sell them. Good luck.
If you need more help let me know. I'll be glad to try and find one for you. I'll need the manufacturer of the record player and the model number.

As the stylus touches the record the turntable stops rotating

If this is a belt drive turntable you need to replace the belt. Make a note of how it fits, before removing the old one.

Where do I get drive belts for a aiwa xr-m10 cassette player

Try eBay, i've been looking for these on the internet, they sell kits (long and short variety), containing several pairs of different measures (about $7 per kit), and are supposed to fit various brands and models (including aiwa).

...a hint: a belt measure tells you the diameter of the circle formed by that belt

...another hint: old belts are loose, which means they are a bit longer than the new ones, so when you select the new belt from the kit, it should be a bit shorter than the one you removed from the deck (old belt - bigger circle, new belt - smaller circle).

I'm aware that not all aiwa models are the same, the one i was repairing a while ago had a double tape deck, each deck containing two belts, one long and one short, they were a bit tricky to change, but i didn't need to disassemble any of the mechanisms, i just had to remove both decks from the housing for easier access to the belts which required prior removal of the top cover and rear panel. After that it was some 4 to 6 screws and 4 connectors (just about half less in your case, i believe).
I can't tell what your unit looks like on the inside, but in my opinion aiwas are relatively easy to take apart, but then again, i could be wrong...

Hope this helps you get closer to a solution.

Provided the replacement stylus is the correct one for the cartridge you have, it should just slide in from the front of the tone arm into the cartridge.
