Was it plugged in to an outside receptacle? If so are you trying to plug into it after new cord? Try a different receptacles if you want to be sure go inside the house and plug it in. Try it. If it works. The outside recepticles are on a GFCI circuit an have a test and reset button on it reset it if it does not work check the panel box for a trip breaker turn it all the way off then on again to reset breaker.

SOURCE: Ryobi 18V Hedge Trimmer Blade Question

Just buy a file and push 3 or 4 down strokes down the same slope of the cutter toward the sharp edge. Never file on the flat top of the cutter, only on the slope. Support the frame using a saw horse or pick-up bed. The support makes the file cut the metal better. You can do the same thing with chain saws. You just need the file that fits the cutter. You just hold a consistant angle and count out the same number of strokes. Also, clean out junk between the moving parts, tighten any loose screws, and drop a few drops of 3 in 1 oil between the moving parts. Having things sharpened at a shop is inconvenient and expensive.

I have a ryobi hedge trimmer RHT 2660 DA why wont the pull cord wont return ?

If you can try and tap by the starter housing with a small hammer and then you need to get some lubricant spray injected in to the spring. If it wont go back in there is a chance the spring has either broke or become unseated.

Hi i wonder if you can help my Ryobi hedge trimmer has a problem with the pull cord it works goes in and out but it does not turn the engine over is there maybe a key way or something that maybe broken...

Hello Nick,
Inside the cord attaches to a plastic wheel which cranks the engine. This cord can become loose or can break after some use. Try opening the plastic casing where the cord is to see if this is the problem.
Thanks

I have an 18" Craftsman Bushwacker hedge trimmer

The wire into the handle may have been pulled and come loose. You will have to take the handle apart to check. They are simple.

I cut through the cord by accident, can I buy a replacement wire?

If you are handy, you can do this. Most trimmers some with a very short cord to which you are expected to attach a extension cord. What exactly did you cut? If the short cord that may have come with it ... disassemble the body of the machine and reconnect a shorter (the one you cut) cord. If it was the extension, that is easy. New ends available ar your hardware store.

If there is a trick part,it is in reassembly. Pay attention to how it was configured when you took it apart.

hope this helps
