The number of zones usable at one time depends on the initial fan cfm , which may be adjustable if it is a multiple speed blower motor If so put motor on highest speed and recheck ..
If it is variable speed, it is controlled by electronics in motor and circuit board and motor . Also you must check coils and blower wheels for dirt . Hint if blower wheel is dusty evaporator coil must be exposed and cleaned. Duct work also needs to be balanced for correct airflow

You need to check for power to the zone. If you have power then the valve is bad and needs replacement.

SOURCE: Have a dual zone system. When zone 1 is working

Try reversing the wiring at the thermostat or control station between those two circuits. There should only be one wire to change for each zone. (Not a White one)

2 Stage Furnaces More Comfort and Save Money

Two stage hot air furnaces can save you money and make your high efficiency furnace even better. With your furnace running at low fire instead of cranking up to the highest heating output in mild weather you can be more comfortable while saving money.

Many people think that they are getting the best they can get by buying a high efficiency single stage furnace. What they often don’t realize is that they could do better yet and for a few dollars more have a high efficiency 2 stage furnace that could keep them much more comfortable.

There are 2 stage hot air furnaces that are now available that will only run at half fire if the full fire is not needed. With a two stage furnace in mild weather when only a little bit of heat is needed, the furnace will have longer run times on low fire. This will keep you room temperatures from getting too hot before the thermostat reacts and shuts the furnace off again. This will help to keep your temperatures from overshooting the set point and help to keep your home much more comfortable.

Many of these two stage furnaces also have variable speed blowers that run at a lower speed when heating on low fire. This will also help to save money on your electric bill, because these blowers use very little electric when running at these low speeds. Air noise from the blower running at a high speed is also reduced.

If you are thinking of replacing or installing a hot air furnace, make sure that you ask your contractor to give you a price on installing a two stage furnace. The price difference probably will not be much higher than a high efficiency single stage furnace. However the comfort of the two stage furnace coupled with the electric savings will make the extra money well worth it.

Goodman Model GMV950905DX-an electrical surge burned out the transformer which I replaced, also replaced the circuit board. The variable speed furnace will no longer kick into high speed and it will l

If I remember correctly, there are dip switches on that control board that can be set individually. It is possible that it is just a setup issue. The switch positions should be explained in the installation instructions. I know that some Goodman and Amana two stage furnaces can be controlled by a single stage thermostat, but the dip switches have to be set properly. If the switches are set correctly the furnace will run in low stage heat for approximately 5 minutes and if the thermostat hasn't satisfied yet, it will kick in to high stage heat. I hope this points you in the right direction!

Your t-stat should be set up so that the furnace is the second stage heat and also emergency heat. First stage (heat Pump comes on) sometimes they use Time to start 2nd stage, sometimes they use outdoor temp and this all bepends how bryant has set it up, without a model # I cannot tell you but send it and i will look in somebooks i have to tell you.

Yes, I believe you are correct concerning the circuit panel.

Regarding your heat pump not keeping up ...depending on what part of the country you live in, heat pumps are not the best thing to heat with. As you probably already know, once it reaches 32 degrees outside, the heat pump stops working and the electric furnace or heat strips come on to supply warm air. Frankly, when that happens, it's like turning on your kitchen toaster and blowing air across it with an electric fan. Doesn't sound to efficient does it. Plus, your electric meter is spinning like crazy and the power company is falling in love with you.

In my area (Virginia) most new home construction is now using what's called a dual fuel system. It's a heat pump, but it has a gas furnace backup for when it reaches 35 degrees outdoors. It's very, very efficient and a very comfortable heat. The gas furnace can run on either Natural Gas or Propane Gas.
In most cases this can be added to an existing heat pump system. The only thing necessary is the Gas Furnace, since you already have a heat pump and all the duct work. Could probably be added for a whole lot less than you''d expect.

The other option is to add a vent-free gas fireplace or vent-free gas logs, if you have an existing solid fuel burning fireplace. They are great for zone heating and/or supplemental heating. Plus, if you have a power outage in the middle of the winter, they'll still work, as they don't require any electricity.

I didn't mean to run own, but I hope all this helps you solve your heating problem.
Please let me know.

Stage 2 is okay as long as there is a fossil-fuel kit accessory wired in the field control wiring. EM heat would only allow gas furnace operation if the thermostat is set for EMER HT mode.......this is not ideal and not recommended. Dual-Fuel applications require a fossil fuel kit.
I'm including a link with information on one type of fossil fuel kit. It explains how it works. If you have limited HVAC service knowledge and/or experience, I recommend having an experienced service technician check your system operation in all modes to ensure proper operation for longer system life at peak operating efficiency.

Amana PGD60C1152E no heat

Your thermostat Function 0170 must be set to "1" for Single Stage Heat/Cool. Function 0180 must be set for "0" for Heating Fan Control. Function 0240 must be set for "5" for the Heating Cycle Rate for your <90% Gas Furnace. If you have already done these steps or if, after doing these steps, you continue to experience a problem, you problem could be with your Gas Furnace. I'm including some links for information on your system and thermostat that include wiring diagrams.
