There is a battery lock slider in the middle of the bottom of the laptop. Move this to unlock to release the battery.
Then pull out the battery from the back of the computer.

How to replace your Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 laptop keyboard ?

It's easy to break the flimsy keys on laptop. In order to better protect the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 notebook keyboard, some friends, instead, use USB keyboard. But if you work outdoors, carrying a USB keyboard is not convenient. You still have to use the laptop keyboard. Once a laptop keyboard stops working, there is no option but to replace it. You can use these steps to replace the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard.

1. Take out the battery and AC adapter, unplugged from the wall, enusre the laptop is fully powered off.
2. Remove those screws with a T-8 or Phillips screwdriver.
3. Turn the laptop back over and open it up. Check and see if the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard is tucked under any plastic pieces. If so, find them if those plastic pieces are screwed into anything, and unfasten them as well. If not, it probably uses clamps that can easily be removed.
4. Remove the plastic pieces carefully.
5. Unscrew any screws at the top (if necessary) and remove the keyboard itself from top to bottom. You'll notice that the keyboard is connected with a thin, but wide, data cable to the system board at the bottom.
6. Disconnect the data cable attachment of the keyboard which will sever all the remaining attachments of the laptop keyboard with the laptop computer motherboard. To remove this cable, you have to just carefully pull it out from the socket to which it is attached. Then you can lift out the entire keyboard out of the laptop.
7. Take the new Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard out of the plastic and place it inside with the right orientation, attach the data cable.
8. Refasten the keyboard in place at the top.
9. If you had to remove any plastic pieces, carefully snap them back in and replace any screws you had to remove.
10. Turn the laptop over and replace all of the keyboard screws.
11. Put the laptop battery back in place and switch it on to check Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard functionality. If everything has gone according to plan, you should be ready to type away!

You have to remember that once you open up the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 laptop computer for keyboard replacement, the warranty provided by the manufacturer stands void. We personally suggest that you do it on your own only if you are in a really desperate situation and there is no way you can get maintenance from the manufacturer. I hope this assists you. John

Hello, I've left my notebook (Toshiba Tecra A9 running on Windows 7 enterprise) without using it and It went into sleep mode. When I've turned it back on it has taken me to a log-in screen and is asking...

Yes, this is a problem with the Toshiba laptop drivers not reloading correctly from a suspended state.
right click the battery icon on the lower right toolbar and select 'power options'
if you are in 'power saver' mode or sometimes even in 'balanced' mode, the system will throttle back enough memory to keep basic functions from preforming properly.
you can go to the advanced options and change how long it will take for the system to sleep, hibernate, what happens when you close the lid and many more.
I recommend 15 mins digging through and reading these settings to become familiar with what they do.

you never know when they will make a difference :D
GOOD LUCK AND PLS RATE THIS POST!!!!!

How do I switch from battery to power on my Toshiba Tecra 8000?

Mama,
You do not have to switch from the battery to power as long as the powwr adapter is plugged intp the wall socket and the laptop. When the battery goes low it starts charging while running the laptop and when not charging it runs the laptop alone. I hope that relieves you of your worries?

My Tecra Toshiba will not turn on or off, even plugged in.

Yes it is. And, it is highly recommended that you remove the battery if you're going to use your laptop for more than 1 hour. If you keep your battery in and have the laptop connected to the adapter, the poor battery is going to be charging/discharging so much that its life is greatly shortened. Also, this is what causes dead cells in batteries.
You might possibly have an internal power supply problem.
But, go ahead - remove the battery. See if it helps.
You also might try letting the battery charge for 3 hours with the laptop off.

You will have to strip the laptop and access the round battery on the motherboard. Remove that battery for 2 minutes and then put it back in.

This will remove the password

Toshiba Tecra 8000 keeps switching itself off.

I'd suggest removing the battery. Most laptops can run directly off the AC adapter. If it will boot up OK without the bad battery, you can either leave it like that, or buy a new battery.

If it won't boot, then you have problems other than the battery.
