You should have posted some more details about CD/DVD model and make. Anyhow, there are several ways to get the CD out of a CD/DVD ROM or Player.
In case of Desktop PC, check for a pinhole just below the eject compartment and insert a rigid metal pin (like straightened U-clip) till it reaches some shaft. now with a controlled force, push that shaft inside and the CD/DVD cover will open. In laptops, the hole is on the eject cover itself.

In Desktop, check for loose connection of the power connector. Opening CD ROM and releasing CD would be the final solution.

How do you get a stuck dvd out of the cd drive in a acer laptop?

Have you tried the tiny little hole very near the slot of your CD drive? A small straightened paperclip stuck into the hole and pressed in might push the drive open for you. Many people don't know that little hole is for that purpose.

I can't take out the dvd from the drive as that is not ejecting

Hi,
you may have a label or even the metal slide piece stuck in the mechanism. Take it to a computer shop so you dont do more damage trying to open it. Some CD drives have a small reset hole on the front that when an open paper clip is inserted it allows rejection but if a lable is stuck it needs specialized intervention, especially for the 3.5 drive that has metal slide from disk jammed in it

HP CD Drive Will Not Open

Take a pin/needle, and stick it in the small hole which should be somewhere on the front of the dvd rom. This should open the drive a bit, so that u can pull it out. then close it, and try if it opens then. If it doesnt, then you will have to grease the sides of the slide (from the bottom) a bit with vaseline. open and close it manualy a few times, and try then. If it still dont work then, then you may need to replace the little black bellt which it has just underneath the tray, towards the front of the drive.

Good luck
