SOURCE: I have a Saniflo plus-shower, toilet and sink are

You can use any other brand as long as it doesn't contain bleach or chlorine. Also you can use vinegar to get rid of calcium. Just pour a few cups of vinegar and then flush the toilet. This is what i've done when i go to service this type of units. Spoke to technical support and they adviced that is ok to use vinegar.

Toilet pumps when not in use

sounds as though there may be a trickle of water going in to the pan from the cistern. To check you could turn OFF the water to the cistern, or tie the float arm up. then flsu the water in the cistern so that no more water will trickle in to the loo. Leave it a goodly time, several hours say, and monitor if it still runs for a few mins every hour. Actually running for two/three mins is rather a long time but first i would think you need to eliminate the possibility of the above steady trickle from the cistern.

Water running into the bowl after flush and refil

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE BALL-**** (FLOAT SWITCH) IN THE CISTERN IS SET TOO HIGH UP. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT MODELS BUT ALL SHOULD BE EASILY ADJUSTED. HAVE A LOOK INSIDE THE CISTERN AND ADJUST THE FLOAT SO THAT THE WATER STOPS AT A LOWER LEVEL. IF THE WATER IS CONTINUOSLY FLOWING INTO THE CISTERN WHEN FULL YOU MIGHT NEED A NEW INLET WASHER

Saniflow keeps on macerating after flushing, and I have to isolate it from the mains

Sounds like a stuck float switch .. probably due to gunk inside the macerator. You'll need to empty all of the water out of the WC, cisterm, isolate the electricity and disconnect the saniflo (i.e. take out WC and cistern), open up the saniflo and give it a good clean

Good luck

It is blocked how do i unblock it

Turn off electricity to saniflo.Turn off water to toilet (normally an inline valve). Empty toilet bowl and cistern of water. Remove toilet, cistern. Disconnect inlet pipes to saniflo (careful as backed up water will flow out!).

Take out Saniflo (outside is normally good). Open up top with star driver and use a flat blade for the plastic retaining flaps.Be sure to wear rubber gloves to keep out germs from cuts etc on your hands.

Cover mains cables with plastic food bag and tape up. Use a solution of bleach / warm water, fill up the sanifo and leave for a while. Swish around and empty into a drain etc. I also use a hosepipe to make sure I get it really clean (esp under motor and float switch). Also check inlet pipe flappy bit and the actual pipes that connect to the saniflo

Good luck

When flushed pump starts water goes but pump keeps running when level is reached

pump keeps running - again this is indicative of a dirty / scaled saniflo. You need to clean / descale the saniflo. if this does not work then an outlet pipe blockage (22mm) may have occurred (unlikely if the unit is operating ok). Saniflo sell their own cleaner, which can be introduced via the wc bowl. If this does not work, then its time for a proper clean ( remove unit, jet clean, acid descale, wash, replace). Obviously not everyones cuppa tea.

The toilet was installed under the stairs a year ago and has hardly been used - the bowl keeps filling after flushing and overflows, I cant shut it off. It flooded the down stairs twice now - all over...

Take the lid off the cistern tank and have a look. There is a ( usually ) round float ball in there. This is what is causing it. When the cistern fills up the ball is supposed to float up and the arm it attaches to shuts off the water, usually at the opposite end to the float.
Turn the tap on the pipe to the cistern so it is nearly off and move the arm up and down by hand. See what it is getting stuck on or what is happening.

If it is not a simple sticking problem, you may need to undo the top of the cistern valve itself ( opposite end to the ball. )
Turn the water off completely to the cistern to do this or you will get squirted. :)
They are fiddly little valves and all a bit different but if you take your time and make sure you have a good light you will be able to work out what has been happening.
Hope this is some help.

Our Saniplus pump runs for no apparent reason. Do I need a plumber, an electrician or a new unit?

if the pump operates then the pump is ok. if the pump switches on for "no reason", this indicates that the saniflo unit is filling slowly with water. as you have a saniplus, then you probably have a handbasin and bath / shower connected to it. If the taps / valves drip, or the wc cistern "leaks" into the bowl then these could be the sources.
