It sounds as though someone used a harsh chemical on the case that is not compatible with the finish. This will soften the plastic and cause the issue you state. Once this has occurred, there is no getting the genie back into the bottle.

My DVD keep spending and it won't start I cleaned it but nothing happened

see the next steps and fix it. God bless you
Clean the objective lens:
  1. Remove the housing and lift the hold-down clamp to expose the lens.
  2. Remove dust with canned air or soft brush. If needed, use a foam swab or a camera-lens tissue dampened with lens fluid.

Clean a DVD disc:
  1. Hold the disc by its central hub and outside edge.
  2. Blow dust from the bottom surface with a can of compressed air.
  3. Clean dirt and fingerprints from the bottom surface with a lint-free cloth dampened with CD/DVD-cleaning fluid or denatured alcohol, wiping from the center outward.

I cleaned my Tasco binoculars with Goof-Off and it seemed to work well. It was in horrible shape, with really sticky black goo.. now it feels smooth and clean again. Don't know how long it will last though.

We purchased a Grand Theft Auto IV game for my son last Christmas 2010 and it is giving him problems. It says unreadable.

If dust particles are sticking to the CD surface, use a piece of soft cloth to wipe off the dust. To hold the CD, insert a finger or thumb inside the center hole of the CD or handle it by the edges but never touch the shiny surface.

» If the DVD surface feels sticky or greasy, mix some baby shampoo in lukewarm water and use cotton or soft cloth to gently rub the CD surface with this solution. Make sure the CD is completely dry (no water drops) before putting it back in the jewel case.

» If there are fingerprint marks on the CD surface, dip a soft cloth in Isopropyl Alcohol/Ethanol/Methanol and gently wipe the surface. Never use a petroleum based solvent like Acetone as that will permanently damage the CD surface.

» When none of the above alcohol based products are available in the local market, use a bottle of Mineral water to clean the dirty CD surface. Normal tap water has higher concentration of salts that may leave white marks on the CD surface.

» Always wipe the disc surface in a non-radial back-and-forth motion (from the center hole to the outer edge). Don't follow the concentric circles while cleaning.

» There are few DVD polish products in the market that promise to repair the scratched surface of CDs and DVDs.

I put DVD in player. It will spin but won't read DVD. Then it will say, no DVD! It has not been used much. What do I need to do?

Dear mgunwall, If dust particles are sticking to the DVD surface, use a piece of soft cloth to wipe off the dust. To hold the DVD, insert a finger or thumb inside the center hole of the DVD or handle it by the edges but never touch the shiny surface. If the DVD surface feels sticky or greasy, mix some baby shampoo in lukewarm water and use cotton or soft cloth to gently rub the DVD surface with this solution. Make sure the DVD is completely dry (no water drops) before putting it back in the player. If you notice a scratch on the surface of a CD or DVD, I would suggest that you immediately make a copy of the disc (if it's not copyrighted). If none of the above work, try cleaning the lens of the DVD player by using a CD laser lens clear CD like this: http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/ha/hama-cd-and-dvd-laser-lens-cleaning-disc--ref-11434.jpg
Good luck!

My SimpleTech USB 2 .0 External Hard cover got sticky. I kept for quite sometime and when I brought it out, the cover has gotten sticky. How do I clean this?

Turn the device off.
Disconnect any AC adapter.
Dampen a cloth with some dish-washing liquid.
Wipe the surface -- the object is *NOT* to get any liquid INSIDE the enclosure.
So, wipe with that damp cloth, and immediately use a dry cloth to absorb any dampness.

Tivoli radio sticky case

I have the yellow songbook and it was so sticky and dirty after only a couple of years. I only use it inside, so I removed the sticky coating with nail polish remover and a ton of cotton balls. It worked really well on the yellow one - the finish is a little dull so it matches how it looked when it was new. And it's so clean now!

If you switched DVDs and you plugged it into an electrical outlet and it is still happening, you should take it in to have someone look at it.

DVD PLAYER KEEPS TELLING ME NO DISC.

Your three yr old has not shut you down. Open the lid of the player and make sure that the lens still slides backward and forward. If this is so, get yourself a clean cotton swab dipped in either methylated spirits or rubbing alcohol, and thoroughly wipe lens in circular motions. Few seconds to dry and you should be ok.
kev tech.
