Question about Electrolux Refrigerators

1 Answer

Top door will not close by itself on fridge

The fridge leans to the left hand side and we have packed the left rear roller with a wooden packer which is 1cm thick. It fixes the lean and we have tried to adjust the front foot on the left side and it's extended well down and the right side is not so much, and the little adjuster which sits on the right side is well down touching the floor, and the freezer door closes by itself but the main door will not self close anymore. We have been trying to get the fridge level since we came to this house. The model number is EBM5100SA-R. It is 9 years old. Is there anyone in Auckland New Zealand that can help us. The fridge works really well and is in great condition so we don't really want to buy a new one.

Sounds like the floor of the house.. might be your problem..Try moving the fridge out of its position and build a small flat platform in that place and level it, then place your fridge on top of it..just in case u may need a little final adjustment get those small wooden wedge shims when you get your wood..they sell them at lowes or Most lumber yards....that should take care of the leveling..good luck..good luck

well the simple solution is wood shims to level it out. Could just be your floor is not quite level. I use the cheap pine shims that you get at the hardware store.

Left hand door not closing easily anymore. lubricate the hinge?

It could be the fridge is tilting forward.
Up turn the two front screw beside the door to make the fridge tilt backwards, or lower down the two back screw to allow the fridge to tilt backwards.

Then the door will automatically close by the weight of the door itself!

2 of 3 sliding doors don`t close on tgm-69r

there is a string and a weight on the inside of each door. if you cannot find the string it may be broken. lift and remove the door from the unit, then remove two screws from both top sides of the door and the top of the door itself will come off. you can then lean the door over, the weight should slide out.

Fridge door squeaks, freezer door bumps

Slacken the three screws, align the door and tighten the screws up again. Try not to lean on the door when it's open.

My side by side fridge door does not close by itself when released

It is likely that your fridge is tilted left or right, and possibly forward at the same time. Most refrigerator doors will self-close if the fridge is slightly tilted both back and to the handle. The fridge is raised or lowered by adjusting the front feet or rollers.

The problem you'll encounter with a side-by-side fridge is that if you adjust for the right-hand door to self-close, there's a good chance that the left-hand door will want to stay or fully open; if you don't check it while making the adjustments. It can take a little extra time to make sure the adjustments make the front both perfectly level left to right, AND slightly higher in the front than the back.

Freezer seal

Good day,
The first step is to make sure the machine is leveled properly.
It should not be allowed to lean to the left. As well, the adjusters should be set, so there is a slight tilt to the rear, so the doors have a tendency to close on their own.

The freezer gasket should be cleaned, as well as the frame it makes contact with.
The reason this happens is a lot of air is pushed into the machine when the main door is closed. There are 2 openings between the main compartment and the freezer, so the air is forced into the freezer compartment, wanting to push it open.
If the gasket on the freezer fits well, then the problem, is the gasket's magnets have become weak.

The repair is replacing the gasket. However, many people find ways to use the machine by adjusting their habits to ensure the door closes. One example is to keep a hand on the freezer door when closing the main door, or, closing the fridge door slower.

In any case it's your decision as to what you want to do.

I need to level the refrigerator. The back needs

Hello Monty, If you can roll the fridge out, you'll likely see the adjustment screws for the rear wheels, (if equipped). If the rear wheels are fixed, as most are, you can put a couple of wooden shims down on the floor where the wheels will be and roll the fridge back into place and then make the leveling adjustments from the front wheels.

If the amount of height adjustment is greater than a half an inch, you can use a solid piece of plywood the width of the fridge and about 4-6" wide and place that at the back. Roll the fridge in until it hits the plywood and tilt the fridge forward about 2 inches and push it back until the rear wheels are on the plywood. You can then, again, level the fridge using the front wheel/leg levelers.

I've found that it's easier to get a good idea of just how much out of level the space is where the fridge is being placed. Then you can make the changes using the best materials for the situation. Shims are fine for small adjustments, while the full width plywood is more consistent and easier to adjust, as the fridge will likley get moved out every 6 months or so, for cleaning of the coils and behind the fridge.

Remember that ideally, you want the front of the fridge just slightly higher than the back, so the doors will close by themselves, when opened almost 90 degrees and released by hand. Gravity should then take over and automatically close the doors, ensuring a good seal to keep the fridge closed and running properly.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Refrigerator does not level tilts to rear extremly unit rolls foward when opening doors

there should be two set screws at the top of the rollers . to adjust if I am correct you turn these screws to the left to raise the front. These screws are above the rollers as I said however, if you use a phone book to hold up the front of the fridge it will take pressure off the rollers making their adjustments easier

Good Luck
