the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How to remove a cover on a gateway E-6610D desktop computer

Unscrew a green large knob screw in the back, then the cover of the case should slide backwards. It will be tight because it fits snugly into place, but just push backwards and it will break free and reveal the insides to you.

How do I actually replace the power switch?

Darlene,

Most Power Switches on PCs are located behind the front bezel of the unit. They are typically a micro-switch that can be purchased at your local Radio Shack if you choose to do it yourself.
Best bet is to have the switch examined by a local Repair Shop or IT Technician you trust. It has been my experience that typically the button hardware around the switch can end up broken as well.

I hope this helps.

I am tring to remove the hard drive from a gateway 610xl desktop system. Do you know where I can get instruction on how to remove the hard drive?

cosmetic screw covers that cover nothing
"remove this panel so you can remove that panel so you can slide the
carriage holder and unscrew the fenortnor rods."
"Flex the case in the middle and the undercarriage will drop out."
"Slide the front cover a couple inches left and remove screws, then
turn it around and lift the cover one inch to remove third screw."
"Stroke the front left corner lightly, singing a lullaby, then flip it
over and scratch at the furry spot in the middle."

How Do I remove the cover from a Gateway 500 series???

Like this Gateway SE?

http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/2800071/280007101.shtml

On the back of the computer remove the screw from the top middle.
Now remove the screw on each outside edge, down towards the bottom.

Hold the outside shell, or computer cover. Push the inside forward.
The computer cover comes off like a shell, or bonnet.

http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/2800050/280005003.shtml

If this is a reference to a Gateway 500X series, remove the thumb screw/s from the back of the computer, on the right side. (Right side as you are facing the back of the computer) Then slide this Side Panel towards the back of the computer.
