Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I need to upgrade my HP dc7800 running XP. I did the Windows compatibility wizard. The results were: 36 of your apps & devices are compatible....10 items for you to revies...you'll need to reinstall your compatible apps & devices in Windows 8. When I click on the 'see compatibilty details' I get the message that the web page is not found. So I have no details. Can someone tell me with this lack of info if I can install Windows 8 ?

The camera wont work ,
the video driver might have some issues that a new driver will solve maybe,
what it means really is that to do an upgrade to win 8 liekly will leave issues for device drivers that will need to be reinstalled.
you will need more memory
what you need to ask is what do you expect from this upgrade other than days of adjustments and failures and the money you spend.
i would get another hard drive an copy/clone what you have 1st.

How do i download the next upgrade after windows XP professional for free?

Why up grade if XP Pro is working fine???????? The only time to up grade is when your existing OS is not compatible with some program you wish to run. Other than that you should stay with XP.

If you have to "upgrade" your best bet is Win 7 but that is a clean install, not an upgrade. Stay away from Vista, Win 8.1, 10 lest you have horrific issues with convenience, compatibility and/or drivers.

I am having installing my dynex wireles g usb adapter because it says the install driver is not compatible with windows 7 64 bit. Is there a way to install the driver?

I'd suggest installing the device drivers in the Compatibility Wizard. Remove that hardware device in Device Manager, right-click on the driver executable/installer file and select the Compatibility tab; click the checkbox before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows Vista in the list-down box; then try installing the device driver. In addition, you can use the Windows XP driver for testing.

If the problem still persists, please understand that Windows 7 is a new operating system (only the beta version) and whole driverstore has been reprogrammed; some old driver is not compatible with new OS. I suggest that you should wait for another period of time till the retail version is released and push the vendor company to upgrade their device driver. Thanks for your time and understanding!

Good Luck!

Dont work on windows seven

Did you run the Windows 7 compatibility test before you upgraded? Have you checked the Windows Hardware compatibility list? Find both here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

If your device is not listed at all and it is not NEW, it will not work on Windows 7. If it is listed, additional instruction will be found in the listing. If you want to find out HP position, go to www.hp.com, select your area, select support tab, enter your device and see if there is a driver for your printer that will run under Windows 7. If there is a driver ... well there you go. If there is no listing, well read on my friend.

Alternatives: Run the device on a XP or Vista computer. You might get 7 to run in compatibility mode to run your device but you will not be happy with the results. (What would have been the point of upgrading just to defeat the new features so you could run your printer?) If HP has not provided a driver by this time for your device, they consider this 'classic' (translation, old) and they want you to replace it with a newer device.

Can not run on windows xp

Most programs run properly on Windows XP. The exceptions are some older games and other programs that were written specifically for an earlier version of Windows. These programs may run poorly or not at all after you first upgrade to Windows XP. You may have heard this referred to as application compatibility issues or program compatibility issues.

You should run the Program Compatibility Wizard before you try other ways of updating your programs or drivers because it identifies compatibility fixes written specifically for Windows XP.

To run the Program Compatibility Wizard:

1.Click Start, and then click Help and Support.

2.Click Fixing a problem, and then click Application and software problems.

3.Under Fix a problem click Getting older programs to run on Windows XP.

4.Read the instructions and then click the Program Compatibility Wizard.

Update Your Program or Drivers

If your program does not run correctly after testing it with the Program Compatibility Wizard, check the Web site of the program's manufacturer to see if an update or patch is available. Also, go to Microsoft Update to see if a fix is available there.

If the program is a game that uses Microsoft DirectX®, make sure that you’re using the latest version of Microsoft DirectX. In addition, check the Web site of the manufacturer of your video card or sound card to see if newer drivers are available for either of them.

I hope this helped!

You could try this.

To run the Program Compatibility Wizard
  1. Start the Program Compatibility Wizard.
  2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
clip_image001.gifNote
  • To start the Program Compatibility Wizard, click Start, click Help and Support, click Find compatible hardware and software for Windows XP, and then, under See Also in the navigation pane, click Program Compatibility Wizard.
To set the compatibility properties for a program manually
  1. Right-click the program icon on your desktop or the shortcut on the Start menu for the program you want to run, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Compatibility tab, and change the compatibility settings for your program.
clip_image001.gifNotes
  • The Compatibility tab is only available for programs installed on your hard drive. Although you can run the Program Compatibility Wizard on programs or setup files on a CD-ROM or floppy disk, your changes will not remain in effect after you close the program.
If this doesn't work you will not likely be able to play them.

HP PSC 2350 Printer/Scanner & just purchased a new computer (Windows Vista) & the discs I have for this printer/scanner only support Windows 2000, XP not Vista.

You can set compatability to windows 2000. I presume you have vista. start menu. control panel, programs... then you will see set compatability or similiar (my control panel won't open at the moment). use the wizard to walk you thru the steps. select the program you are having issues with. It will allow you to run the program as win 2000 compatability.
