Why does brine tank fill with water and overflows?

Brine tank fills with water and does not recycle. Have tried to manually recycle with no results. There is power to the unit.

It sounds like there is a problem with either the valve in the head not sending water to the venturi jet when it is supposed to recycle or, the venturi or jet have an obstruction that is preventing it from creating the vacuum necessary to draw the brine back from the tank into the resin bed.
If there is water flowing out of the drain line during the recycle it is probably the venturi or jet need cleaning. If no water is flowing it is probably the valve assembly.

Waterboss 93000 water softener

It most likely is due to a plugged eductor/injector assembly which pulls the salt brine out of the tank to regenerate softener. If it is plugged no brine will be pulled from salt tank during regen but it will keep filling the salt tank and eventually overflow with each cycle. Or there could be a leak in the valve causing the tank to overflow.
Here is the owners manual for your model.

Harveys water softener leaking

Actually it is regenerating if it is filling the salt tank with water. It is just not drawing out the water/brine during the brining cycle. Check the eductor assembly it is most likely plugged with iron or debris. Clean thoroughly and manually cycle unit to brine draw. Usually second cycle, until the water level is back to normal then do a manual regeneration from beginning. Then regen 3 consecutive days.

Water softener fills up with water

If you are referring to the salt tank filling with water, then the problem is the eductor assembly. This is where the brine is drawn from the salt tank. If it is plugged no brine or very little brine will be drawn during regeneration. You will need to clean the eductor assembly and manually regenerate the softener to regain softened water.
What model softener is it? It would help to bail most of the water out of the salt tank. How much depends on the model.

My salt brine tank fills with water. What could be the problem? How do I fix it?

That is normal in the operation of a water softener.
The water soaks the salt to liquefy it so it has salt water to flush the resin to make it let go of the lime deposits.
That is over simplified but is working like it is suppose to.

The water softner is now filling up with water also the is water in the the overflow its sits in

The softener is not drawing brine during the regeneration cycle. The eductor assembly may be plugged or you may have a bad seal internally. It will keep filling the salt tank if the float assembly is not working properly also causing the salt tank to overflow.

My softener sucked all the brine out of the brine tank the last time it regenerated, now it will not fill back up?

It is not going into brine refill. There may be a restriction (debris) at the float assembly in brine tank. or the refill piston in valve may be bad.

It looks that water is leaking from the - Culligan water softner

Look down the tube (where the float assembly is) there should only be about 10-12" of water in there. For water to reach the brine tank over flow the tank would have to be 3/4 of water. Brine tanks can develop leaks over time if they were set on uneven ground or if any rocks or debris are under it. If there is no evidence of water running down the side of the brine tank this is the most likely cause. Also if it has been leaking for some time there will salt buildup around the brine tank. Check the water softener for any leaks also. At times a small leak from the softener will find it's way over to the brine tank and collect around the bottom of it.

Kinetico Water Softening Unit has brine tank drainage problem

This sounds like the resin cylinder is perforated or connections at the top are leaking. The brine tank should only have a little water in the bottom - if it is full of water (maybe even up to the overflow?) then you will need to replace the resin cylinder or fix a leaky connection to it.

Is the water in the brine tank 'rusty'?

1 Answer

Brine tank does not fill

If the brine tank is not refilling with water this indicates there is a restriction in the brine refill assembly or the refill piston is bad. Depending on the model this restriction could be either in the top of the float assembly or in the brine refill itself.
