That sounds like great idea however without the ability to test and determine that it is actually wrong with them I would put up a big red flag that says stop. With out the proper knowledge, equipment and skills you have a very high percentage of destroying the amplifier. Do you know what configuration the output transistors are in and how to bias them? I do not have the circuit diagram but the outputs operate in Class D, that tells me it most like has MOSFETs instead of transistors in the output circuit.

This is on the first page in the book: CAUTION: Risk of electrical shock - DO NOT OPEN!
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover. No user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

If you are using channels 1-8 be sure the mute button is not pressed. It is to the left of the effects selector. Is the LED illuminated for the DDT Speaker Protection system, if so that is shutting down the outputs.

SOURCE: wish to run sm450v2 Mackie powered speakers thru a Peavey XR8600

The Peavey XR8600 is NOT just an amp, but a powered mixer.

To SAFELY use this with your powered speakers, connect those speakers to the MAIN and MONITOR outputs on the front of the unit with 1/4 inch INSTRUMENT rated cables (NOT speaker cables).

To safely leave the power amps in the XR8600 with no output loads, plug GROUNDING plugs into the POWER AMP 1 and 2 input jacks on the front. This will prevent the power amps in the XR8600 from running with no load which COULD damage them.

Make the grounding plugs from 1/4 inch mono plugs by jumpering the centr aand sleeve terminals of the plug.

Peavey XR8600 can't get it to come apart

And why would equipment blow a fuse the minute you turn it on? Well, I would say because it's defective. Bad power supplies, burnt components, shorted diodes and/or transistors or dead IC's. It's repair shop time bud and make sure that shorted speaker wires or defective speakers didn't damage it, as reconnecting a freshly repaired unit to the same wires/speakers could damage the unit twice.

I have a Peavey 8600D can I safely run 1 main

When you unload one amplifier you stand the chance of killing the amp's output transistor. If you must use only one speaker, you have to bridge the amps.

Hello, What is the proper way to connect an Ashly XR1000 Crossover and a Pyle Pro PTA1400 power amp to my Peavey XR8600 so I can use 2 subs? The subs are not powered, but do have a passive crossover...

Here is a link to the manual:http://www.peavey.com/assets/literature/manuals/00513220_7.pdf I didn't look at the manual for the crossover but this is probably the way I would do it. Look at page 13 in the manual : Come out of the Main out (31 in the diagram) into the main in of your crossover. Go out of your crossover Hi and Mid out setting back into Power amp In 1 (labelled 32 in the diagram). Hook your speakers that you normally use to the output jacks on the back of the Peavey. Make sure you match the output impedances. Go out of your crossover low output into the Pyle power amp and out of the Pyle into your subs. Make sure the impedance ratings of all your speakers match the output impedances of your amps. You will only be running in Mono mode as that is the signal output of the Peavey mixer. You can run faux stereo by using the Main monitor Out as 1/2 the pair and the Main Out as the other 1/2 to both channels of the crossover but you won't be getting a true stereo pan mode.

Hook the power amp into the actual main and monitor input, and then hook your main and monitor speakers into the power amp.
