SOURCE: stuck on standby

Unit is in protect mode there are a few problems that can trigger protect mode the most common is blown channel (shorted outputs). Sometimes one of the 15v regulators may go bad causing imbalance of supplys triggering protect mode. Also sometimes a bad solder connection could cause unit to go into protect also. SOURCE: how to turn off standby mode

Get a standy killer! I've got one for my lazy children and it works a treat. It senses when there is a low level of electricity going through the socket and cuts the power. Good for electricity bills too! http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/standby-killer-p-5002.html

SOURCE: Receiver stays on standby mode

Receiver either just stuck or held or having problem in amplifier output area.
Try to unplug it from AC outlet for couple of minutes and replug back in and power up, if works, fine and if does not, take it to local repair shop as it might requires some parts replacement in amplifier out area.

SOURCE: My surround sound speakers don't work. No power

LCD will display which speakers are active. And this depends on 2 things: the source signal and decoder mode.
If source signal is stereo, only front L+R speakers are used. For 5.1 signal (for example DVD over HDMI / optical/coax spdif) all speakers installed (which are not set to None) are used.
To listen to stereo input signal using all speakers, switch decoder to enhancer mode.

SOURCE: My BA AVR 7120 seems

Hi, Sounds like the overload protection is cutting in. What impedance speakers do you have connected to the A and B speaker connections? If the impedance is too low the receiver will try to output too much current and the system will overload.

Also what volumes do you listen at? Is the receiver hot to touch before it shuts down? Check all your speaker wire connections and make sure no wires are touching other wires or speaker terminals at the receiver end and speaker end. What size speaker wire are you using?

It might be an issue but I have heard of problems like this when they used very thin wire. How long are the wire runs? Do you have any 14ga. wire you could try? 16ga wire should be the min. you should use on very short runs (unless you are using HTIB speakers).

I don't think the wire is an issue but I have heard of problems like this when they used very thin wire. How long are the wire runs? Do you have any 14ga. wire you could try? 16ga wire should be the min. you should use on very short runs (unless you are using HTIB speakers).

No Surround Speaker Sound

If your surround mode setting is set to "Stereo," your surround speakers will not function. To remedy this, just change the surround mode. Push the "Surround Parameter" button either on your receiver unit or the remote control to access the surround mode settings. Push the "Select/Enter" button on your remote control to cycle through the surround modes: "Direct," "Stereo," "Dolby Pro Logic," "Mono Movie," "Rock Arena," "Virtual Surround," "Matrix" and "Video Game." Select any option except for "Stereo."

Makes sure that none of the speaker wires are shorted across the terminals at the speakers or at the amp. Just one stray strand can cause an amp to go into protection.

Tv will not turn on green light flashes for 10 seconds then goes to red

Tv's are designed to check themselves for problems when 1st turned on. If something is shorted and a voltage goes to high they will not turn on fully. It sounds like your set is trying to turn on yet sees a problem then goes back into standby mode. This can be cause by many different circuit problems. Generally repairs can range from $75 to over $200 depending on problem and brand. I only recommend repairs if half the cost or less to fix. Since your ? only stated it's a CRT. I would recommend your purchase a new LED LCD TV. CRT (cathode ray tube) Tv's are now old technology. You could probally find a new set for the price to fix the old.

I have no sound coming from surround speakers and sub.

Some surround modes switch speakers on or off as required. It's possible that the inputs you are using have settings that remember your previous settings, ie: no sub and surround speakers. Check the inputs and also make certain that whatever is connected to them is putting out Dolby signals.

SR5004 amp on standby mode (red light blinking twice a second) / cant get it out of stand by mode

I am having the same issue as well. If you press "clear" "exit" and "surround mode" all at the same time, it will come back on. It seems to be an overheating issue. If you put a fan on it, it helps, but does not fix permanently. Anyone have any ideas for a permanent fix?

Harman Kardon AVR325 stays in standby mode

Was a solution ever found for this? I have almost the same problem, except that mine makes a horrible sound through the speakers before it shuts off. However, after an attempt or two, mine usually starts working and sounds fine (I love how this thing sounds!). It seems to happen more when I've let it sit for a week or two. When I use it regularly, it usually works fine. It's almost like it knows when I'm about to give in and replace it... because it will start working again! Maybe I just need to make an effort to use it more....

Standby mode

I have the same television. Mine would shut off and turn back on every 30 seconds. Even though the LAMP light wasnt coming on in the front of the set, I replaced the lamp with a factory Sony lamp and have had no problems since. The sets picture is beautiful and I have had no problem since.

Help getting sound from New Sony LCD Television Model XV HTD520 DVD Player with Surround Sound S HTD520

While I could not find it in the manual, I found that you must
go to the menu, open Sound Options and set Speakers to "Fixed".

Note: If you turn off the Surround Sound or DVD player combination you must then go back to the menu and turn the speakers back to Televsion.
