Question about Cell Phones
I have tried switching off wi-fi but when I try launching the wi-fi switches on automatically. I have also tried rebooting the phone but no changes.
Go into setting and look for connection settings or internet setting and then look for an option of using data or data packets olong those lines and select the option for mobile data and de-select the option of connecting with wi-fi

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Yes, the Bold 9700 will use wi-fi in preference to the mobile network whenever both are available. I had one for a month, it was my primary means of internet access and I didn't get charged a penny for any data usage. I used it on both my home wireless network and in many public hotspots.
In any case, it's easy to check: the top of the screen will show the wi-fi logo in white when connected and greyed out when wi-fi is switched on but not connected.
I hope that this answers your question, if so then please take a moment to rate my reply. If not, then please add a comment and I shall expand upon my answer to suit your needs.

you can surf the net on a wifi network even of you dont have a data plan. turn the wifi on then select "set up wifi network" then just follow the instructions to be able to connect to the network. if you still can't after doing this, it might be because the signal of the network is not that strong.
regarding the bluetooth, go to media, then press the menu button (the bb logo), then select "receive via bluetooth" for your bb to receive the file from your laptop/other phones.

Do you have a 3g connection or are you trying to use a wireless connection when you attempt to connect? Have you ever been able to connect or is this the first time this has occurred?

Log in to the device (usually on 192.168.1.1, username and password are both 'admin' by default).
Go to Settings (third option) in the top navigation bar.
In Advanced Settings in the left hand navigation, select Profile Management.
Select New Profile.
In the pop-up enter 'O2' as the profile name.
User Name is: web
Password is: web
Change APN to static and make it either:
mobile.o2.co.uk (for contract SIMs)
m-bb.o2.co.uk (for Pay As You Go SIMs)
Click Save and make sure that O2 is then selected in the drop down at the top of the page.
