Question about Samsung Computers & Internet

Computer running slow.

Have win 7 32/64 and six gig of memory. Keep system maintained. Use Norton utilities, spy bot, Norton 360. I scan frequently. performed defrag and registry defrag frequently. Have reformatted hard drive 3 months ago. It did not seem to help much. System has started to run slower over time. Do not have a bunch of programs loaded at start up.

Well it could be a series of things. How old is your system? What kind of system is it? For me I have an old HP a6212 Desktop and I later installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, with 4 gb of ram. When my system slows down the first thing I do is a registry sweep, followed by a disk cleanup. After that I always clean up my desktop(that always seems to help).

Another thing you might do is run a memory test on your computer to make sure that none of your ram cards are bad. The steps are as followed
Step 1: Open the Start Menu and type in mdsched.exe, then press enter.
Step 2. A pop-up will appear on your screen, asking how you'd like to go about checking the memory. The first option will restart your machine and check the memory right now, and the second option checks the next time you choose to reboot. Pick the option that best suits your needs.
Step 3: Your computer will load a screen that shows the progress of the check and number of passes it will run on the memory. Watch the memory diagnostic tool for errors. If there are no errors, then it's likely that your RAM is not causing any issues.

During the summer I had installed some new DDR2 ram in my tower and my tower was really lagging for some reason. I later did a google search for possible clues as to why and found out about the diagnostic tool and come to find out the dealer sold me bad ram. After popping the old ram cards back in my system worked fine.

Try both of these suggestions and let me know if it helps, if not I'll see if I can find other options. If this doesn't help I may need a little more information on your system.

You can run a Linux boot up CD scanning utility that checks the percentage of errors actually occuring.. Especially memory errors.

Malware is a big problem.. I have recently discovered that Spybots "Deep Rootkit" scan can unearth rogue malware that has been making my old XP laptops run slow for years... Now Idling with LESS than 30 running processes !

I purchased this computer, 2 gig memory last year. I had just put in Norton and it is running SUPER slow. How can I reset this computer to run normal? This is not the laptop

I have known several people who have had similar issues with norton, It seems to be quite resource hungry, if you really want to keep norton then I would suggest a RAM upgrade to give your machine more power, alternatively, you could try another antivirus, I use Microsoft Security Essentials and it works well for me.

However, check to see if norton is running a system scan, this will almost definately make your machine run slower.

Please guide the steps to install the norton antivirus 360 latest version one user

The easiest way, open your CD drive and with that open shut down your computer. Insert the Disk in the drive and close it then restart the computer. The installation program should start auto automatically as windows starts. The reason I said to shut down then reboot with the disk in the drive is to allow the program to scan your system before windows starts to speed up the install process. If you insert the Disk and close the drive while the computer is on it will auto start and scan the system anyway but it takes longer. Make sure you stop and uninstall any other anti virus programs or Anti Adware programs, such as Spy Bot, you may have running, the Adware programs only need to be closed.

Cannot able to use norton on my netbook

Norton is a huge resource hog, memory and processor speed will mean the difference between your system crashing or barely even running. My computer came with only 512Mb of Ram and firing up Norton absolutely shut my computer down, locked it up solid.I had to install another GB of Ram before it would even run.No less than 1GB of ram to run it.Use http://www.free-av.com/
for FREE antivirus protection and
http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html
for FREE spy ware protection. They don't rob precious resources as they protect in the background.Mater of fact, they're all I use and I have no problems.

I would suspect your computer has a virus or has spyware or malware that is causing this. Restart your computer in Safe Mode and run Webroot and your other security software. If they find nothing then restart your computer and then go online and run this free scan. http://us.trendmicro.com/us/housecall/

Norton 360 says scann is running when it is not. cann not connect to support. "program not respondig" message

I've this happen to me in the past. In my case, a virus had infected my computer and corrupted Norton to make it appear like it was running when it wasn't. Make sure the problem isn't a virus first, and then try to reinstall Norton if there is no virus. I would try a virus scan at safety.live.com or download AVG free from downloads.com

Slow startup, slow responce.

Well this is an obvious fix but replace your HDD with a 7200 rpm SATA HDD from http://www.newegg.com
It should be a fairly cheap upgrade depending on how much storage you need.

You should see a significant improvement. I be willing to bet your HDD is a slow 5200 rpm and slow seek time.

Remember, the slowest parts of your computer is your HDD and CDROM
