Try jolding in the power button long enough until you get a screen that says power off ( once you see the power off option
Now tap and hold the power off option. long enough to where you get a screen that says restart in safe mode. This should give the chance to fix your phone with only basic programs running and no viruses. Used successfully when you get the FBI virus and cannot get past it. YOu may have to reset your phone It just depends on what is wrong
Make sure you have it charged up correctly It could hang because of that as well

If Verizon doesn't replace it for you, you can find the touch panel at Droid Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at Droid Repair Guide.

SOURCE: recoverymode malfunction

I hope you have bricked up your phone. Just use ODIN, download stock rom zip packages, put phone in download mode, plus USB, load rom files in ODIN, flash the update and then it will work. (Actually it worked for me).

How do i fix?

This can happen for a number of reasons. You could have a virus on the device, the operating system could be crashed, there could be a hardware glitch.

I would start with attempting to boot the phone into recovery mode. You can follow the steps attached to do so. Once you get into recovery mode, try to select the option that says "Clean System Cache" and then reboot the phone.

If upon reboot it still gets stuck at the screen, boot back into recovery mode and do a factory wipe.

Hi..my yoga 8 won't do anythin, turn on or off, just stuck. Did have Lenovo logo on screen, but now has Chinese writing in corner of screen. Can't find reset button and not sure what to try.

It looks like it's in the recovery mode but in Chinese.

Post what happens when you try to enter recovery mode yourself - How to Enter Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 Recovery Mode
  • Power off your device.
  • Boot in recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up and Power Button at the same time.
  • Release all buttons when the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 screen flickers and in a few seconds the Recovery screen will appear.
Cheers

Peace

Reset rca tablet

You can perform a hard reset on your tablet 2 ways. The first is by going into Settings>backup and reset and choosing the Factory Data Reset option.
If you are stuck at the startup screen or a password/pattern screen and cannot boot into the system, you will need to use method 2, which is booting into recovery mode. Have the tablet powered off first and make sure you have more than 50% charge on the battery. Boot into recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up and power buttons. At the RCA logo screen, let go of the volume up button and you should next see an android image. Press and hold the power button and tap the volume up button once more and you will be brought to the recovery mode menu. From here, you will need to use your volume up and down buttons to scroll and navigate to the wipe data/factory reset option and use the power button to confirm. When the process is done, go ahead and reboot and your tablet will be set to factory original settings.

IPad shows blank black screen & won't turn off ~ how do I fix?

Try reseting the iPad by holding the home and power buttons simultaneously until the iPad completely shuts down and the Apple logo appears.

Once the Apple logo appears you can release the buttons. If this does not work, you may need to connect your iPad to your computer and do a factory restore using iTunes.

Welcome to Fixya

Try to boot the computer in safe mode. Turn off the computer then turn it back on. keep on tapping F8 then select SAFE MODE form the selections. If your computer wont able to boot to safe mode then you have a corrupted operating system. You need to reinstall windows using the recovery disk that came with the sytem.

Thank you for using Fixya!

picexporterror From the home screen, Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

Still having problems?
Try deleting all the existing settings.

Note: The step given below will delete all the data on your iPhone. It will also give a reset to your settings.
From the home screen, Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings.

Or:

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond

  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for 10 seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Stuck in recovery mode, never been used, screen states firmware problem . everything i have tried has not worked. Tried cleaning mode, reload firmware mode, noting. HELP

Stuck in recovery mode Zen v
Detach your player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
If the player stops responding, you can reset the player. To reset the player, gently
insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.

2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on your player.

3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.
It will display the following options:
Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All)
Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware
Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.

I actually had this exact problem a little while ago with my Zen Sleek-- Booting straight to the Recovery menu, and only getting a generic "Harddisk problem" error screen any time I would try to do anything.
Booting straight to the Recovery menu
I decided to open it up to check out the hard drive to see what kind I would need so I could try replacing it. The data plug that attaches to the hard drive itself was partially unplugged. So, I pushed it back in all the way, put it all back together again, and turned it on just to see if something different might happen. (I had it set in my mind that the hard drive failed and I would need a new one, so I didn't expect anything different to happen) And to my surprise, it worked just like new again.

Before you go off and invest in a new hard drive, I suggest opening it up and make sure that plug is in all the way. Since you'll be opening it up in any case, it wouldn't hurt.

good luck
