A common issue with vacuum's not sucking is that they are blocked. Make sure that the hoses and air passages are not blocked. Use a coat hanger as a clean out tool. You may have to disassemble your vacuum to clean it out.

My family has the same problems and call me.... almost 90% of the time it is either; a mostly or overfilled bag or there is an obstruction in the hose. The first is easy... change the bag. The second is a little more complicated and is dependent upon the type of vacuum.
Give on of these a try,

  • If a "canister style" disconnect the hose, at both ends, and drop a quarter in one end of the hose and it should go all the way through. If it is blocked you can use a broom handle to help dislodge obstructions.
  • If an "upright style" unplug, disconnect the hose from the beater/tool end, lay the vacuum as flat as possible with the hose straighten-out as possible, start at the beater end and look for obstructions (a flashlight can help). Now check from the other end. There will be a small area of the hose you will will not be able to see through. You can use a "wire hanger" (stretched out as far as possible) to probe the hose from either end (I usually use a pliers to help straighten out the hanger and bend over the end into a small loop) Note: the loop at the end helps to prevent damage to the hose.
I hope this helps dislodge the obstruction. Keep the "straightened-out" hanger for future clogs.

SOURCE: Filters for panasonic vacuum cleaner MC-E468

Hi! Sometimes really hard to remember which of these models is which, so please forgive me if this is not a complete solution.  I'm pretty sure you will find there are two filters.  The first is a foam filter, and is located at the bottom of the bag compartment.  It pulls out to the front, and is washable (of course it must be completely dry before re-use).  The second (and here I'm on less secure ground) is a HEPA filter, and is located behind a removable panel on the front of the bag compartment door.  The HEPA filter is not washable, but rarely if ever needs to be changed unless the machine has been used for vacuuming a lot of extremely fine dust. I hope this helps, and I value your feedback. Please remember to rate my response.  Good luck!

There is smoke comming out of my eureka pet pal vacuum cleaner every time i shut it off. and it does not suck up dirt.

Assuming it does not need emptying, then it sounds like a dangerous electrical fault. Recently similar thing happened to me, (different vac cleaner), and if I'd left it on any longer I'm told that it would have burst into flames. Be careful.

What is wrong with my vacuum cleaner when it want pick up and it blow the trash back out

Sounds like you might be hitting the reverse button some vacuums have. Otherwise there's stuff getting trapped in the space above the beater bars and when you lift the vacuum while it's running, this trapped trash has an opportunity to get out now that there's no pressure from the floor. You might want to check and make sure there's nothing stuck in your tubing that's preventing things from going into the bag. My wife use to suck up gum wrappers and half sheets of paper and it would clog up the hose. I'd have to use a broom stick of wire coat hanger to unplug this.

Make sure that the dirt bag is empty and that the motor bearings are good. Also check for any debris that may be gumming up motor bearings and forcing it to run slow.

You also can check out the motor brushes and replace them.

Plenty of suction from the hose pipe itself but no suction when vacuuming the carpet

Hello Can,

Go through this guide to help find the issue www.builtinvacuum.com/flowchrt.html. You should have suction without a filter. The bottom is on the unit, right? It needs to be air tight.

Not picking up after recovery is installed correctly. I've been using one about 10 years.

:) been there :)
1st make sure you have the dial set to release water/cleaner LOL

the only other thing i know that stops mine from sucking up the cleaner/water from carpet is if the small little filter trap is clogged - just clean it out and it works again :) (hopefully it will work for you too!)

My bissell 3120-3 is not sucking up dirt

if the vacuum is not sucking up dirt first check the hose to see if there is suction if you dont have suction there you need to follow the hose to the nearest connection remove the hose from there using screwdriver or some models will twist off check to see if there are any blockages, make sure the bag is not full if so replace bag with new one if needed, if bagless or if that dosent resolve the problem remove the cover plate for the roller, remove the roller and check the suction port that routes the dirt and debris to the dirt cup or the bag. you will just need to check all of the different routes to the bag or dirt cup, the best thing to have is a blower and you can blow through the different passways untill the clog is blown out, thanks I am sure that this info will help everyone if in alb visit the Vacuum Doctor, Don the doctor is always in!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The best thing to do is to see if you can open the power mate or powerhead, the sock is jammed in there and blocking the path of the dust and dirt. There should be some screws on the bottom to release the bottom plate or the top cover will come off, it would be one or the other It probably is stick in the gooseneck the swivel neck portion of the vacuum and or the wands or hose. If you need further help look in the owner’s manual or contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or call Sears cust serv listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I was on my 2nd room and the brushes stopped working and it spells like a belt broke but there are no belts on the machine. Also making a louder sound.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 Spin Scrub Upright --- If the vacuum does not have a belt there has to be something driving the brushes of which a part is broken and is in need of replacement. Please check your owner’s manual under the trouble shooting guide to see what is wrong, or feel free to call the Hoover factory website or phone 3 to cust serv @ Hoover to see what is wrong or to have them send out an owner’s manual to you for future use. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Not knowing the brand name and model # of which we like to know so I can direct you in the right way, the 3 things that you need to do is to change the belt every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning, check the brushroll and the bearing ends, some have the bearing holder of NEW or OLD and both should be the same if the bristles are long enough to hit the carpet, if not you may have adjustment screws, also to change the vacuum bag or to clean the filter if it is a HEPA filter, and one more thing check for a vacuum clog. For the next question, please include the brand name and model # with your question. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
