Either the plug is in the magazine backwards or the shell stop is bent. Either way, ensure tha gun is completely unloaded.
If it's the plug, unscrew the cap on the end of the magazine being careful not to hold it so the spring won't shoot across the room with the cap on it, slide the spring, follower, and plug out, turn the plug around and re-assemble. The shell-stop is trickier, and you might be better off taking it in to a gunsmith.

If you can load three 2 3/4" shells but not three 3" shells you might have the wrong plug for your shotgun. Unscrew the cap at the end of the fore stock and look at the plug for correct markings for 3" also. If you can't load any shells your plug is defective, or the retainer is missing. Take your shotgun back where you got it and exchange it for another one is what I would suggest.

Sounds as if you are unfamiliar with the "workings" of this model, if you have read the manual... I apologize, but if not please review.

My 870 express synthetic model the pump action is sluggish after I reassembled..why is that

Anonymous,
If by sluggish you mean it's hard to pump a new shell in you might check the alignment of the fore and tube assembly where the two long arms go into the receiver assembly. You might look at the shell latches and make sure their going up and down freely. I use q-tips to oil the areas where metal meets metal inside the receiver. After working your weapon, disassemble it and look for wearing in the blue for possible places for hang ups. I hope this gives you some ideas where to look. Ray

I have a feed problem with my Remington 1100 12 gauge. With two shells in the magazine, on ejecting a shell from the firing chamber the feed jams because the second shell in the magazine is not stopped,...

You have a shell stop that is either bent or worn, I think there are 2 in there, would have to look. Go to Gunparts.com for the view and order parts, might find them on ebean. Hope th is helps.

New 870 express is not cycling low base shells properly

When it stove pipes, does the empty get caught by the next live round coming up on the carrier?

Try firing one round in the chamber and none in the mag and pump like normal.

If it fires and ejects the empty with no ammo in the mag the ejection system is probably fine.

If when you shoot with one in the chamber one in the magazine and it stove pipes you may have a timing problem. The cartridge stop is letting the next shell come into position and start coming up on the carrier to early. This may be fixed by moving the ramp on the action bar so as to get ejection farther along before the next shell is released to the carrier.

Caution, if the cartridge stops are ok and the carrier is coming up to early it is another issue altogether and needs to be looked at by a smith.

Remington 1100 12 gage won't load a shell from the magazine

Are you shooting very light load?
Have you tried different ammo?

Light loads may not produce enough energy to work the action properly.

If different ammo doesn't help, make sure the two holes inside the barrel ring are clean and gas from the barrel can pass through. Next I would check the o-ring for cracks. If you shoot lots of shells (competition clays) the recoil springs inside the stock or over the magazine tube may have become weak and need replacing.
