  • Restart your ASUS laptop and press the "F9" key while the computer is booting up. This will open the boot screen. Select "Recover Windows to Entire HD" and press "Enter."
  • Press "Y" three times when asked if you are sure that you want to restore. The laptop will restore the factory settings. The computer will then shut down and start up again.
  • Approve the license agreement, then select your "Language preference." Enter your name into the box and click "Next."
  • Enter your password twice on the next screen and select "Next." Enter the time zone and date information, then select "Next." Select "Finish" on the next screen and the computer will reboot.

My acer tablet screen froze after I accidentally deleted apps that I don't need. How can I fix other than buying a new tablet

First, try rebooting. If that doesn't fix it you may consider restoring the device to the original factory settings. A word of warning...restoring to factory settings will take the tablet back to the way it was when originally purchased. All passwords, updates, music, photos, videos, audio recordings, apps and so on added after it was purchased will be deleted. So don't do this if you are concerned about losing the aforementioned data and files. To do a factory reset go to settings and look for a restore option. It may be under something like system restore, device settings, back up and restore or something similar. Once you find it, it should warn you that your device will be restored to factory settings and that all post factory apps, passwords, data and files will be deleted. If you still want to restore your device follow the instructions. You will then have to set everything up from scratch as if it was just purchased. I did this with a Kindle Fire. After the factory restore I reinstalled my apps, added all my accounts (email and so on), downloaded all my books, music, etcetera, and it has worked great since.

Where is the factory reset button?

You don't state which ASUS product you own, but most (if not, all) ASUS tablets don't have a button to reset the device. You can do a factory reset via the settings menu. Look for a 'Backup an Reset' entry.

Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 won't turn on or charge.

Ah ASUS. I have a Memo 10. Had the same problem when it was 6 days new. Asus has a UI that is bad.

    1. First try to charge via USB to your computer. If you get any result good, leave it a bit.

    2. Leave it plugged in and see if it will turn on. If you can get it to turn on ... do this.

    3. Find the back up and restore/factory reset. Back up your data, pics, music. etc.

    4. Do a factory reset... it will say everything of yours will be delted. Proceed.

    5. Restart the tablet.

    6. Go into settings and TURN OFF Asus's UI. On my Memo 10, under settings is a menu called "Asus Customized settings" in the sub-menu turn OFF "Use ASUS Quick Setting" yours may say something a bit different.

    7. Restart. The look will be different but no worries. On the upper right see if your tablet it charging. It will be a battery with green and black and a lightening bolt in it. If it is charging try your wall wart charger.

    Good luck!
