Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My Raytheon Palm IR 250 will not power on. I know the battery is good, it works well with my other palm. I have started taking it apart and see nothing wrong with any components, loose wires, or any obvious problems. Any ideas? Just to add, the plastic housing of the eye piece was broken off when I purchased it, but all wires seem to be attached properly, holding it to the rest of the camera. Doesn't seem to be the problem, just giving all info as possible.

Hello, connect your thermal camera at the car-charger, if available, or better pull out the battery and try to start this camera only with the power adaptor connected. See if there is any blink- led, image.

These PALM IR have known battery problems.

I have a raytheon palm ir 250. I have purchased new batteries and the camera only runs for about 10 minutes before it fizzles out. I then recharge them and then I get less operating time until eventually...

When such things occur with devices it is usually as a result of a discrepancy in the device. If you can get someone with a similar device try borrowing a similar battery device and see how long it lasts. If the battery runs normally then it is the charging device which is faulty. If on the other hand it undergoes the same problem then it is the device which has some discrepancy in its consumption.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Bought a used palm ir 250, no battery, no battery charger and apparently the owner couldnt get it to work. I need a place/advice that I can purchase said items and have someone look at it.

This device uses PC-DR11: Duracell 6V/4200 mAh NiMH (BNH-159-4SBK) Battery Equivalent.
Duracell quit making this battery, but you can find after-market batteries at a moderate price. You should be able to find a universal charger that will charge these as well.

Whenyou opened the unit there is a small black plastic disk with a white membrane. With the unit open and turned on is this spinning? If not the motor is likely bad. I am not sure where or even if parts are available for these units. I came across this post looking for a motor myself

Palm TX Touchscreen does not work

Search youtube for Palm TX Digitizer Replacement and Palm TX Take Apart Direction. If you think you can do it, or know someone who can, you can order a replacement digitizer on ebay for from somewhere like www.pdaparts.com.

Before ordering the part, you may want to start by opening the palm and cleaning the connecting ribbon cable contacts to make sure that a loose cable or oxidation has not caused your problem.

Region unlock code.

hopefully this will help
Converting the player to Multi-Region:

Requires the use of a Palm Pilot w/Palm OS 3.0 or later and the OmniRemote Pro from http://www.pacificneotek.com/
(Other PDAs using Palm OS and compatible with the OmniRemote Pro from http://www.pacificneotek.com/ can also be used).

1. Program the Palm Pilot/OmniRemote. For instructions on programming the Palm Pilot/OmniRemote click How to Program the Palm Pilot.
2. Power on the DVD player without any DVD in the tray.
3. Keep the programmed Palm Pilot close to the IR port of the DVD player.
4. Start the OmniRemote program.
5. Place OmniRemote in TV mode and tap the "0" button on the OmniRemote.
6. The DVD player will power off.
7. Power the DVD player on again. Check the Region-free status by playing a DVD.

Dropped my Palm TX, IR no longer works

I went to the Palm support website. It seems that after any reset, including a soft reset, the Beam Receive function has to be re-enabled. Follow this path:
  • Applications==>Prefs==>Power
  • Beam Receive==>Off==>On==>Done
For more information: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,kb=PalmSupportKB,CASE=obj(14838),ts=Palm_External2001

I also updated the driver for my Palm wireless keyboard.

Cheers!

Raytheon Palm IR 250D Problem:

Without the lens, the lcd screen is useless. The screens are pretty delicate and is probably broken if all you can see is white. Try it in a dark room. More than likely the on-imager screen is trashed. Try plugging a vcr / cam-corder into the video output on the device and you should get a picture there. Unfortunately, this limits your portability for the device. But you should be able to use it and the plus is that you can record your output.
