SOURCE: dvr4-alert full screen playback

That's because this is a quad. It compresses all 4 video feeds into 1 file. When you play it back, it decompresses the video and shows you each camera. Playback through this unit is the only way to see 1 camera at a time.
To be able to copy 1 camera shot to a DVD, this is what you need to do: You need to have a TV with Video in and Video out jacks.  Connect the Quad to the TV Video in jack and connect the TV Video out jack to your DVD Video in jack. Playback a single camera shot on the quad to the TV and hit record on your DVD. - The DVD will record whatever is shown on the TV.

If it is the same year as mine you can change the settings through the ssc21web system instead of the recorder-have you tried that yet? The ssc21web system has the ability to be set to view the input from the cameras. There are many options- motion detect, quad, single, it will switch from single to quad intermittently, etc. Maybe your settings were changed on the ssc21web and not your recording devise-check that first, then go back to the ssc1280.

When it records in quad mode, you will not be able to hear the audio. You will need to choose manual or scheduled recording to get the video feed in full screen for audio to be recorded as well.

HOW DO I GET MOTION DETECTION TO WORK?

Are you sure the cameras are capable of motion sensing and make sure that you do not need an additional control cable to the camera to make that work.

Motion works fine daytime records all night won't stop

cameras are more sensitive at motion during night time, also camera cable noise can trigger the camera to record continously

It's a quad. It records all 4 cameras at the same time. You can display 1 cam at a time. If you play it back, you have to hit the buttong that displays the corresponding camera you want to review.

How was EVF improved?

This camera is equipped with the TFT micro display which has about four times the resolving power (number of pixels) of past models. As a useful mode, it has "Quality mode" of 640x480 pixels (30fps) and "Motion mode" of 640x480 pixels (60fps). Quality mode: The high resolving power is the most important. The detail parts can be recognized, and it is helpful when the focus is checked. Difficult focusing on the past models can be easy without enlarging. Motion mode: It is for recording the moving subject. The same number of resolving power is displayed as the quality mode. However, as the pixels are interpolated from 640x240 to 640x480 in Motion mode, the image in the Quality mode looks better.
