My bocsh 830es water heater will be running normal then will kick into a A3 mode no more hot water

Check for a green wire near the top right of your machine. It would loop back to itself with a little black heat shrink on it. This should be far away from the heat exchanger. if its near it, I would recommend pulling it out of the wire clips, and relocating it to behind the control unit on the right side of the machine. Keep it away from heat....its a resistor, and will pop random A3 codes if the heat increases its resistance. Reset your code and you'll be good to go.

It tells you that your water heater called for heat for more than an hr and never got hot enough to meet the demand.

Burner lights for a couple of minutes and then goes out. it keeps repeating this every 15 to 20 minutes. is it the gas valve, the circuit board or what?

More than likely the thermostat, and/or ECO. When you drop cover down look for Therm, and ECO marked on a foam piece under pressure relief valve area. Shut ignition off first, then Carefully pull that foam piece off after removing spade connectors from THERM. Make sure little disc (thermostat) is up against tank good and making good contact. There should be a spring and clear retainer holding it up against the tank. If all looks good there, pick up another thermostat and replace it. They usually come on a card with both THERM and ECO and aren't too expensive. Don't mix the 2 up when changing them, as they are set at different temperatures.

My Amtrol Therm-x-trol tank has dropped 6 to 8 inches since it was installed, and a few drops of water are coming from the washer where is attached to the water heater. It is very heavy now. Could it be...

Sounds like the internal diaphragm has ruptured. The tank should be replaced immediately. You should disconnect the electrical power to the water heater and close off the incoming water supply to the heater. Open a HW faucet to relieve the pressure and remove the tank. Be careful cause you are going to get wet. Replace with a new tank.

This requires a little math....

BTU - amount of heat it takes to raise one pound of water 1 degree F.

I gallon of water = about 8.54 pounds

91 gallons of water = about 777 pounds = 777 pounds x 70 degree rise = 54,390 BTU.

1 Therm (what the gas company measuers in) is 100,000 btus

1 therm costs about $.45 (45 cents) depending on where you are

54,390/100,000 x $.45 = about $.25 per hour

This cost can vary somewhat depending on the inlet water temperature, gas cost, and the efficiency of the hot water heater
