Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

How do I get Kris Jingle to sing the song. It worked when I bought it a month ago; but, it has quit. I changed batteries that are in the bottom unit.

When I push the foot nothing happens. He does swing his head and move his mouth. I'm wondering if there is a battery in the foot.

The foot contains the "on" button, but where does the sound usually come from? If the Santa suit opens in the back, you can check to see if the music box is functional by turning it by hand, if it is the old fashioned type. Maybe something is jamming it? Or it got wet? More information as to what happened prior to it not working would be helpful.

I just had my 180 serviced 3 months ago {$300) when it quit zig zagging, now iit's happened again. Nothing but a straight stitch no matter what setting its on.

There are different brands that manufacture a 180 model, so we really can't address your specific issue.

However, if it is a "mechanical" (not computerized) machine, it may need a good cleaning and oiling.

Since you did have it serviced, there may have been a short-term warranty on their work (although it may only be 30 days). You could always take it back to the repair service and complain about their quality of work. Perhaps they will be willing to correct it without charge.

Could be that your bobbin thread is wound too tightly and having a problem pulling thread from it. Try setting the pressure on bobbin a bit less and that may cure it.

I have a Pfaff 1475 CD that I bought used about 20 years ago. No problems until about a month ago: when I turn on the power, the needle shaft moves back and forth (like it's changing stitch type)

the machine may just need a check up, you can call a repair shop
& ask them how much it costs to service a sewing machine, & tell
them what the machine is doing & then if it costs to much, then you
can start looking for a new machine. but a new machine is always
nice to have & keep the older one as a back up, I have two machine
that way when one is being serviced, I just use the other one.

I have a Bernina 830, bought in 1978. When I depress the foot pedal, nothing happens. Power is on. Do I need a new pedal?

I've just fixed this problem by replacingthe main capacitor in the foot pedal. I have a Bernina 830. I needed a soldering iron, and I had to buy the right capacitor, but it fixed this exact problem. Btw, a few months ago this problem initially appeared (on my machine) as an issue where the speed was either zero, or full speed). After a white it wouldn't work at all.

Threading a bernina serger

Here is a little jingle to remember as far as the order of threads to thread...
Upper looper, lower looper, left needle, right.
Usuall if you give numbers to the threads from left to right as 1,2,3,4 , you would thread it in the order of 3, 4, 2, 1 . Also when threading the loopers be sure the lower looper thread goes over the top of the upper looper thread as it goes out the back.
Hope this helps.

Kenmore Sewing Machine 16221 will not feed

Check for lint buildup between the feeddog teeth, will look like felt pads.....remove it !.........this little housekeeping should be done regularly......also ensure the correct stitch length is selected, not set at zero (OK, unlikely, but can happen !!)
