This is a follow up to your request for more information regarding a drive belt for my Geetech CT-345 12" Planer.

Additional information. This machine was originally bought with a different badging/ distributor, namely WMS PM12 & the serial no. is 537364. Date of manufacture was 1998-4. The instruction book only refers to Geetech & Chiu Ting Machinery. Hope this helps. Regards Reg Beety

Surfing the net reveals that the planer was made by geetech& chiu and was named to any retailer (GMC,Bosch Talon Masters anybody who would place an order for quantity), and that wanted one. ( go on line for geetech&chiu and read all the stories). What this means that the drive belt you are after will be a generic belt and will probably be available fro reputable machinery repairers, retailers, gearing/bearing shops. What you will need is the belt as a sample so that it can be matched. If you do not have the belt any more then run a piece of string around the pulleys and get a measurement. get a width measurement as well and see if it is toothed or multiple v's

Here is a link to a Dayco PDF file that will have a belt diagram for you. Find you car on the main page, fine the number to the diagram and thats how you belt routes. Depends on month of manufacture yours could have 2 guide or tensioner pulleys. Facing the engine, one should be the top left pulley, that one is common to all. The optional tensioner will be the next pulley to the right. If one is missing it may have fallen off and you may be able to run a shorter belt.

I am looking for a drive belt for a Geetech CT-345 12" planer. The part No. is HK14014000 & spec no. is 135J-6. Have tried contacting them direct with no response. Reg Beety, email regbee@bigp

Try Oliver Machines. They no longer have the 12" planer but they may have access to part or know who to contact.

Replace the drive belt

Do you mean replacing the cutter head drive belt?

With power off start the ribbed belt on the motor pulley, insert allen wrench into cutter head shaft. slowly rotate cutter head while feeding belt onto cutter head pulley. While rotating head, alternate between pulleys feeding it on one rib at a time. Softening the belt in hot water is NOT necessary to install the belt in this fashion.

Planer problems

If you're looking at the planer from the infeed side, there's a belt guard on the right side of the head. Remove it and check the condition of the drive belt. If it's broke the motor will spin without powering the cutterhead and feed rollers. The drive belt is still available as part number 22-563 on sites like http://servicenet.dewalt.com/ and www.ereplacementparts.com. Just put your model number in their search box and find the drive belt in the breakdown.

I need a SMALL PART FOR MY SUNHILL 15" OPEN ENDED WIDE-BELT SANDER. WHO SHOULD I CALL?

As you may have discovered, Sunhill Machiney is out of Business. Story I have is that the owner is deceased and that the descendents are either liquidating the company or planning to move the company to California, but that is rumor.

Three options:

1. Most of Sunhills machines were made by Geetech. You may have some luck contacting them directly. Geetech

2. The Sunhill operation was/ is in the same building with Oliver. Coincidentally, Oliver also sources many machines from Geetech. You may have some luck contacting Oliver directly and politely asking if they know anything about who to contact for parts or (perhaps) the Oliver machinery may be similar enough that the part you need may interchange.

3. Steel City also offers a 15" widebelt sander. You may have some luck in parts interchange there as well. Steel City customer service

Hope I have been helpful.

Grant in Iowa
