Question about Gateway Ta7 E-295 Laptop Tablet, Core 2 Duo,1gb Ram 160gb Hhd Windows 7
None of the ones I have tried worked. I can't even get a straight answer for what exactly the type of card is. I think it is a ATI Mobility Radeon 2300 (thats what the Linux I use recognises it as), but none of the drivers for that card I have tried have worked. It always gives me a 19 or 39 error. I have tried many website's drivers, and many different Catalyst Control Center Installs, but those all fail too. PCIVEN_1002&DEV_7211&SUBSYS_0290107B&REV_CE&239D83FF&0&0008
Are you sure about the driver/chip? You may need to double check - was this an upgrade/ change of OS from a Vista machine? Or could it be direct x? read below.... otherwise I have no idea sorry
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300
The Mobility Radeon HD 2300 graphic card for laptops is the successor of the X1300 and supports only DirectX9 (according the informations of the AMD homepage). The performance shall be somewhat above the X1300 and therefore present average or worse game performance. AMD / ATI tells that the relation of performance/Watt has been improved. Rumours tell that the chip is only a renamed X1300 / X1350 video chip.
A difference to the X2300 are the amplified video options (UVD).
The HD 2300 graphic processor is certified for Windows Vista and supports the Windows Aero Glass Interface.

Testimonial: "That doesn't help, thanks though. I double checked the device. Programs identify it as a 2300, although a search of the PCI comes up with the X2100, but I've already tried those drivers too, and I still get 39 and 10 errors. I can't find straight specs for this laptop anywhere though, so I'm still not 100% on the device. Thanks."
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Unlikely. Most systems won't boot without a working display card, you'll get a beep code. USB video only works on a fully booted system so the operating system can initialize the device and load the drivers.

SOURCE: Gateway 450rog Audio problem
I have just re-imaged a Gateway 450 ROG for a friend of mine on the website the audio driver is found (http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn¶m=3501353) under the heading Sound Downloads. This unzips a list of files C:\cabs\9520522
stac97(control panel extension)
stac97 (setup information)
1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.
3. In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.
4. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
5. In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Other Devices, and then double-click Multimedia Audio Controller.
6. In the Multimedia Audio Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.
7. In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.
8. In the next dialog box, click Search for the best driver in these locations, and then click Include this location in the search.
9. In the text box, type: C:\CABS\9520522. Click Next.
10. Click Finish.
Now once installed sound only comes from using the headphone jack, the external speakers get a little sound if the volume is turned up to maximum.
Hope this helps

This now the third time the problem has arose and you have had it in for repair twice. This indicates that the model range is suffering a generic problem as others are suffering from the same symptoms as you.
Now i don't know what your specific problem is but its usually a faulty graphics chip or card.
I think by now its time that Gateway gave in and gave you a newer model laptop because of the problems its suffering but that going to take a little determination from you, basically moan at them and refuse to give in.
Post back if you need anymore advice.
