Try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
My 32" Emerson did the same thing. It turned out to be one bad Transformer Inverter on the Backlight Inverter Board. Something you may want to look at for your problem.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

or on Ebay!
Now if it came with any warranty card, you may try any of the distributors in your country that sell the item. Warranty is not governed by who you bought it from it is with the manufacturer. I would be saying that it was a gift from a friend for your birthday or for services rendered and ask them if they can return it for fixing under warranty. They may want proof of purchase, and that is where lies the difficulty. But give it a go

remove rear panel , on the left side when looking at the back you will see several sets of 2 wires connecting to the main board. they tend to short out against each other. use black electrical tape to insulate them where they touch each other.
