Question about IBM IntelliStation Z Pro 6221 PC Desktop
I have an ibm intellistation z pro. Workstation have 2 scsi, 2 ide and 2 sata. I have setup 01 scsi driver and setup win server 2008. When i setup sata raid 0 or 1. The win boot fail and requied cd to repaird. When boot to cd, computer can't boot. Remove raid sata, computer start good Thanks
I too did felt this type of fault. I did connected 2 SATA devices [HD + DVD ROM] and one IDE HD. In the IDE HD, there was WinXP O/S and with the other SATA HD, i loaded Win-7 Ultimate.
Win-7 is doing perfect, but if I try to access WinXP from IDE, it will boot up well, but when I acess the Win-7 again, and try to open some installations, for eg; Adobe reader 11, it wont work. I have to re-install the Adobe reader once again to work it with.
From this I do understand that, 2 O/S with 2 devices SATA & IDE can't synchronized at the same time.
More to say, Win-XP and Win-7 together cannot be in one system. If so, only the latest version O/S only can be used without any trouble.

Does your RAID SATA have a boot sector? Sounds like your trying to boot from a non bootable configured RAID.

A restoration disc is not a conventional Windows OS disc (and vice
versa), therefore it often cannot be used as if it were a true Windows
disc. The restoration disc includes the OS, but it also includes every
driver and other software product that came with your system. If
Windows were the only item loaded on your system, then a Windows disc
could serve as a restoration disc, but these days, using a typical
restoration disc is an all-or-nothing process.
A restoration disc is your ultimate troubleshooting tool. Suppose that your copy of Windows becomes damaged from a virus or key applications become corrupted. Symptoms such as instability, crashing, indecipherable error messages, and impaired performance are extremely hard to diagnose by yourself—even if you have the help of a customer support technician on the telephone. If the most common corrective steps fail, you can always use the restoration disc to recover your PC back to its known-good, factory-fresh state.

Mayeb you need to repair the OS - In which case you will need to have SCSI Controller XP OS floppy driver obtained from IBM website.
Start up the computer booting up from the CD ROM. Then when it comes to "install thrid party devices" - press 'S' and insert the floppy with the SCSI Coontroller on it and follow the on screen instructions.

SOURCE: Raid 0 on Intellistation 6221?
That particular work station comes with both IDE and SCSI drive interface controllers. The IDE drive should be used for your OS. The SCSI drives for your data storage. Now, the issue is to get the SCSI to work in RAID_0 as I understand.
You iwll need a RAID controller such as Adaptec AHA-3940AU WD SCSI Host Controller, which may be found on eBay (used) for a very affordable price. The driver software may be downloaded directly from Adaptec, so I suggest you do that in the iterim peroid, and store drivers on a USB thumb drive.
Hope this helps you.

it seems as they are conflicting this u usually caused by jumper settings you need to download the utility program from the hdd manufacture the utility allows you to change hdd priority you need to change the settings on the second hdd to slave and the first hdd to master but like i said unlike ide which has jumpers sata has digital jumpers the utility from products website is needed for this
