Re: how do Iget my tv off standby mode
There should be a switch somewhere on the tv to switch it on or off have a good feel around it or a look if not go into the menu and see if you can find operating instructions .you don't say what make of tv it is or wether its a flat screen or other . On ours which is a Sony Bravia there is a imanual . I found out how to switch off our tv from there as I had the same problem when we first got it

A standby mode problem on your plasma TV can result in the TV being stuck instandby mode, ... You can troubleshoot a standby mode error by performing a power cycle or restoring the TV to its factory settings. ... Turn the television on. ... What Does It Mean When My Rumor Touch Says the Camera Is in Standby Mode?
Try pressing the small reset button on the back, it works, and you will not loose any stored information which caused the unit to go in the stand by mode.
Have you tried turning it off for an hour and then turning it back on. This happens to me quite often and leaving it off for a while ususally allows it to come back on. Also have you tried to press the TV/AV button on the remote as sometimes it switches to TV mode when its on standby and then standby won't work as its on TV mode and needs to go back on to AV mode. Basically just press the AV button on the digibox remote and then try standby.
if the batteries are removed and left for about 20 minutes before being replaced again, everything works as it should.
if any of the above suggestions does not work then you have to open the unit and on the main board of the tv there is a thin mini tube light like component called fuse you will have to replace that fuse .the fuse is very very cheap and you can easily get it at any electronics shop.and if still the unit does not work then there is a major fault in the power supply board and should be taken to the service center for diagnosing the fault that it is repairable or not.but i hope the above information provided will definately help you to solve your problem.
If your TV is stuck in standby mode, and does not wake up with the remote, either the remote is faulty (did you check the remote batteries?) or the TV is. Inexpensive current TVs do not have manual buttons on the TV, they depend on the remote for everything.
There seem to be a problem that is why the television is not coming up and stays stuck on standby mode.
First try to turn on the television using the remote of the television and ensure that the battery of the remote is properly working, you can as well try to push the channel button on the television if the remote does not work.
If it does not come up both by using the remote and pushing the channel button, then it means it is a hardware problem, and that is from inside the unit of the television. Since the standby light comes up, it simply means power is reaching the main panel of the television.
This mainly used to be caused by a faulty or bad capacitor on either the main panel or the power panel of the television.
The remote control will not operate the TV when the TV is in the OFF mode (No LED lit on front bezel). To change the mode from OFF to STANDBY or ON, press the POWER button on the side of the TV. Once the POWER button is pressed, the LED will change to either red to indicate STANDBY or green to indicate ON, whichever mode the TV was in prior to being turned off with the TV POWER button.
By pressing the POWER button on the side of the TV, the mode will toggle from OFF to either STANDBY or ON. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is red, the TV is in STANDBY mode and will need to be turned on using the remote control. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is green, the TV is ON.
