I have repaired in the past by disassembling the pump assembly and freeing up the paddles. It will likely require a new gasket - either purchase a new one or make one (tedious but dooable). It is also possible that the leak is from a hose connection instead of the pump - pretty simple to cut back the hose slightly and reconnect.
Good Luck!

Testimonial: "Don't know why they shoved this under Heaters when it a hot water pump but your comments seem to apply and were welcome as Salamader don't have a replacement 107 x 3mm gasket. It occured to me that the liquid gasket stuff they use on auto cylinder head could also take the pressure."

You could fit a shower boost pump if you water supply to the shower is gravity fed. Pump both the hot and cold so that the water pressure is equal...

Salamander pumps are the best and have flow switches which activate when the shower is turned on..

There are cheaper pumps available... you get what you pay for...

Salamander Diamond Single 80 hot water pump is leaking. Can it be repaired?

Yes, but with service call and parts and labor, it is better if your able, to take it out, then replace it with new one. If your not a handy man, might be better to have service call, and even than replace rather than repair, as there already into it is better in long run. Also it would normally have at least year manufacture warranty.

Protemp heater is not running right and blowing black smoke before it kicks on

Sounds like you need a new nozzle and filter. Clean the pump strainer too.

My salamander reddy heater runs for about 15 seconds and then shuts itself off. the plug looks good w/ good spark. is there a certain number of turns in/out on adjusting the fuel/air screws on the back of...

To start with the air pump pressure must be set with a gauge. The air pump pressure is directly related to fuel delivery. There should be a label on the side of the heater designating the psi rating. Get it set right- don't guess.

Once the pressure is set and the heater is still acting up as you described, and I believe it will, because it sounds you are having an electronics problem. But if the unit starves for fuel the photocell will shut the unit down because it can't see a flame. If brought to my shop I wouls perform the following steps in this order:
  1. Set the pump pressure
  2. Check the fuel filter for a restriction.
  3. Using soapy water check airline & plastic cover for air leaks
  4. Troubleshoot the photocell
  5. Troubleshoot the Ignition Control (transformer)

Can a Kerosene leak outside be dangerous?

It could be a fire hazard and if enough leaks into the ground the EPA could get involved. Probably a lot cheaper to fix it.

my heater had a filter made out of copper that looked like a bubble stone for a fish tank. I forced compressed air through it and put it back together and it worked great
