Question about Air Tools & Compressors
I had it sent out to be rewound, now instead of 3 wires color coded I have 9 numbered wires coming out of the motor. I need a wiring schematic
Its going to depend on whether you are connecting to 240 volt or 440 volts...
It also depends on whether it is a 'wye' wound motor or a 'delta' wound motor.
A nine wire motor is probably a multi-voltage motor capable of running on either 240 or 440 volts. For operation on low voltage, 240 v, the windings must be connected in parallel whereas hi voltage operation makes it necessary to have the windings wired in series.
I will not give the details on the winding connections because the process to determine whether it is a 'delta' or 'wye' wound motor is too involved to derscribe on a forum. But..... if it is a 'wye' wound motor, there will be three additional wire connections 10, 11, and 12, that are wired together and under the end bell and not accessible.
We don't want to 'smoke' your motor, so let the suggestion be to contact a reputable and qualified electrician who you trust to determine what's required and to connect it without the potential for damage.

SOURCE: wrong direction of rotation
swap any two leads L1 to L3 this will change rotation hope this helps a common color code is brown orange yellow in that order known as BOY at power feed you can change the wires at the disconnect load or motor side

You will use two of the original three wires. Not knowing if you have a motor starter and how it is wired makes it impossible to give you details.
BE AWARE that a 7.5 HP single phase motor is going to draw a massive starting surge compared to a three phase motor. I assume this is on a 240 volt system as it would NOT be practical to use a motor that size on a 120 volt system.
Expect to require around a 30 to 50 amp single phase feed to the motor.

yes it will you need to make sure you have the proper wires connected to get either clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation.
try changing the hot wires around to correct your problem
