Fault with the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be on a separate board, or on the part of its main board. The LCD Panel must be replaced to fix both problems. The cost in doing this would exceed the value of the set. I recommend not putting the money into it.

Call Sony my friend. I have the same exact issue with the same model. They already have a recall for the 46"XBR4. Let Sony know that us 52" owners are having the same issue. I'm essentially calling them everyday until they fix it.

SOURCE: Have Sony model TV KDL46S4100
The picture becoming normal after a while indicates that its a capacitor related issue. Apparently they are taking too long for the charge/discharge cycle to become normal(due to loss of electrolyte). The source of the problem is most likely to be the LCD control board or the mainboard. You should look for capacitors that are bulged at the top, cracked or have tiny holes at the top. If you want to do it yourself then have a look and let me know.

SOURCE: lines in right side of screen
You have a board connected on the side and another on top.. the board controls your horisontal lines and your side board controls your vertical.. Afte using the television for some time the board gets very hot and the solder gets damaged. You get what is called cold solder preventing the electrical current to pass. You need to retouch with solder but do it carefully. its best if you know some one with soldering experience. That will solve your problem. you can get more details at www.bestdirectorysolutions.com
