Dear Ken, my magic comfort plus had similar problem with incorrect read out and not performing, not specifically with the hot water.

Try resetting the machine to full factory settings, and try again. As the water comes out of the steam wand, obviously that cannot be a blockage fault unless you are not getting steam either.

thanx but we are not getting water or steam, it just keeps saying ventilate... tried to reset factory settings and to no avail. I think there's a blockage internally.

SOURCE: titanium ventilate issues

Remove the milk frother, checked to see if it is blocked.
This can cause the machine not to ventilate correctly.
They tend to block with old hard milk.

SOURCE: trying to ventilate and hot water not flushing through on button 26

Before you press water button to vent you need to restore to factory settings.

First press menu (far right button) then toggle to restore factory settings (using far left button), press menu button then far right again until yes comes up, then press menu button. Press esc button (3rd from left), machine should now be back to normal. Then press water button (3rd from right) and turn steam knob to vent until free water is coming through.

This is the only way I could get mine to work!

SOURCE: MACHINE GETS HOT ON TOP RIGHT HAND SIDE.TRYING TO LOSE VENTILATE

The top right hand side can get hot if you have the cup warmer switched on.
I am finding that the steam boilers are starting to block up and the steam lines are getting scaled up.
If you have access to compressed air, undo the boiler and lines and blow them out.
I have had coffee jammed in the inlet of the flow meter, blowing through it will be a good test.
Good luck

Saeco magic comfort display ventilate, what does that indicate

It means that no water is moving through the machine.. To reset, you need to hit the hot water button (that's the button with water drops). Let it run until the message goes away.

If nothing comes out then you need service. We can service this type of machine in New York.

Press the water button to prime the machine. There is air in the water circuit which must be expelled. And checked water tank is properly seated.

Error message "Ventilate"

Hi
That means the pump needs to be primed by running water through the wand. Push the water button for water(the drop symbol) You will hear the pump change tone when it primes and the light or message will disappear. If you have a restriction in the intake line the message will not go away. There is a flow meter inside the machine that measures water flow. If the flow meter does not spin when the pump is running, the computer thinks that the pump is not primed. Ventilate

turn the hot water / steam knob on to 'ventilate' the pressure from the machine. The ventilate /overtemperature message will disappear when ready (few seconds usually)

This means there is air in the steam/hot water line. Turn on the hot water button and run it through until it stops saying ventilate. If this doesn't work, there could be more serious problems at work (clogged hose? bad flowmeter?).
