A report by the auditors that was published last June, but won't be considered by UNICEF's supervisory executive board until next year, highlights the fact that those national committees last year kept an average of 29 percent of overall private sector contributions for themselves, either as expenses or as stockpiled cash.
In all, more than $341 million in donations was held back by administrators in 2012, and more than $2.39 billion over the period from 2006 to 2012, amounts that the auditors dryly labeled as "high."
In fact, for six of ten unnamed biggest donors the hold-back rate was higher than 30 percent, the report noted, and in one case, it reached a towering 61 percent.

Do United State Senators pay into Social Security?

http://www.senate.gov/reference/common/faq/retirement_for_members.shtml
The answer is no. All members of Congress pay Social Security taxes in the same amounts as they would if they were employed in the private sector at the same salary level. The amount of a congressional pension varies and depends on years of service, age at the time of retirement, and salary.

What is payroll tax?

Payroll tax is the money that goes to the state and or federal government directly from your salary. There are two basic kinds of payroll tax. The first is the kind that your employer pays on your behalf and the second is the money that you pay out of your salary. These amounts are always based on your salary and they are related to each other. For example if you make 10 dollars per hour and your coworker makes 20 dollars per hour, the amount of payroll tax they and your employer pays for your coworkers is twice that of yours.

Inflation & business maths!

The formula that would have been used to increase his salary each year probably was: Original Salary * (100% + inflation) = New Salary

Rearranging this, we get: Original Salary = New Salary / (100% + inflation)

So...

Last Year: 42000 / 102% = 41176.47 = 41176 (rounded)
2 Years Ago: 41176.47 / 103% = 39977.16 = 39977 (rounded)
