Intake/Drain red light comes in and shuts down during wash cycle

I have had an ongoing problem with the intake/drain red light coming in and shutting down the cycle.I have checked the intake screen/filter and it is clean,I have also cleaned the discharge filter and dismantled the elbow check valve and used a garden hose to prove the discharge line clear.I have used draino on my own sink drain. When going through the Normal or economy or energy saver cycle it will drain the tub and then fill and go into wash cylce for about 3 minutes and then the intake/drain light comes in and it shuts down.Previously, I had the light come in and shutdown halfway through the wash and it was determined that the heater was having problems and I solved that by turning the dishwasher switch off and the dial to stop and it worked for the past year, now I have this problem. Is there anyway to reset the computer brain?? Any ideas would be appreciated. red intake/drain light comes on and shuts down the dishwasher, Miele G841 plus

I have the exact same problem as goyellow. My G892SC does the same thing. The "intake/drain" red light comes on in mid-cycle and the machine stops. There is nothing I can do further, except resetting it by press & hold the start button. I also checked the intake filter and the drain air-trap. Everything checks out fine, but the problem persists. Any other ideas on how to fix it, other than calling Miele? They charge $180/hr include traveling time...yikes!!

Intake/drain light comes on and dishwasher stops. Usually it starts, takes water in, drains, starts the next part of the cycle and stops. I've had a repairman come in and he thinks there is a leak somewhere causing the "drip tray" at the botom of the machine to fill up which then causes the machine to stop running so that the water doesn't flood out. My dishwahser is only 7 years old. I bought Miele thinking it would last. We use it regularly but it certainly isn't overused.

I had the same problem. Switched to powder detergent instead of liquid and the problem was solved! Hope it works for you.

I have the exact same problem as goyellow. The motor(M6) does not work, It can be the capacitor(continuous duty capacitor).

Water is filling up in bottom tray due to slow leak....temporary fix will be to vacuum out with wet vac.1st remove front cover at bottom...watch electric connections....2.....for long term fix...put up on cinder blocks to locate leak, if leak persists. fix leak probably seal at pump......pump is tight though...

Washer just shuts down

If the washer is turning off mid cycle then the problem most likely has something to do with the draining or the filling.

First check the drain hose is not to far down the standpipe. If it is to far down then the water might siphon out during fill. The water would fill and drain at the same time. One cycle I would like you to try is the "Rinse Only" cycle. This is a simple, short cycle that should just fill once, drain and spin. If the washer will do this then the major components are most likely okay.

Make sure the water drains out and let me know if the drain pump is the source of the noise you hear.

There is a float switch in a pan under the machine. This pan is probably full and the float switch is causing the Intake & Drain fault signal. You can lean the machine over to towards the front to partially drain the pan. Put a towel down to catch the water. When you put the machine level again the fault lights should be out. The real question is where did the water come from. You can easily remove the top (4 screws, 1 on each side behind the little plastic caps and 1 on each side of the back. Torx heads) and look down inside while you start the cycle. Look for leaks.
Good Luck,
Dan

Intake Drain Light

My Miele Incognito dishwasher kept getting an error with intake/drain light. The light flashed 5 times. Phoned Miele Technical Support to investigate the problem. The problem is that a seal in the bottom of the dishwasher has failed and there was water in the motor pan. Currently, $175 service charge for the technician to come look at it.

I don't want to spend $175+ to have them replace a 75 cent rubber gasket that I could replace on my own.

Miele g841sc dishwasher leaks

Typically the machine only uses 5-6 quarts of water, If you're floor is getting 1 or 2 quarts check for a loosly connected intake or drain hose. I've never seen any overflow drain on a Miele. It only fills the bottom of the tub. The machine uses a logic program that continuously checks the level of fill and drain by water pressure weight so it always runs with proper amount, even if your intake pressure is weak. Now, If you add too much soap then the bubbles can carry a few ounces over a worn door seal. If the seal is damaged then more spray arm water can run down the front of the machine into the float pan. But after it gets less than a pint of water the drain float will start thr drain pump and shut-off the machine controls and alert you. It won't let you run the machine until the water ( and the problem) is gone. Call Miele for help.
