Question about Fisher Dryers

1 Answer

My Fisher Paykel gas dryer gets way too hot on the right side. I can only use the lowest setting to dry my clothes. The side with the bearing gets so hot at any other setting, that you can not touch

We have checked the vent hose. We have taken off the back panel to make sure there was not any lint in the wheel. We have also cleaned out the panel on the left behind the lint basket. We have also cleaned the circular lint filter. We have changed the bearing on the right hand side twice already since we have had the dryer due to a grinding noise.

Hello Anita;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You did not provide a model number so I am not sure what components you have in your dryer.

So, these are possibilities:

1.) You may have a bad high temperature limit switch.

2.) Your gas regulator spool valve may be worn or stuck open. There is a setting screw on your gas regulator valve. Turn to the right to reduce gas flow and turn to the left to increase gas flow.
1/4 turn at a time.

3.) Your gas flame tube may have slipped forward or moved redirecting either the flame length or directing the flame at the bearing.

Aerosmart dg62t27dw2 belt squeeking and making clothes stink

Your belt is not on the pulley correctly. You will likely need to purchase a new belt as the damage has likely been done. Remove back cover and then remove casing (video on youtube) Replace belt. You may be able to fix quicker by flipping dryer on side and replacing the belt from the bottom, but it is a tight fit.

Dryer makes a high pitched squeel when drying

This is caused by the rear bearing for the drum. Have it serviced very soon, as you can save it by applying grease. A new bearing will set you back $40 or so and is unnecessary if you catch it now. . If the front felt runners are worn, have that replaced also. This has to be done or otherwise risk ruining the front of the drum.
