SOURCE: Husqvarna yth2448 pto switch kills motor/battery will not charge

you may hav a bad alt. problem with the mower dying when you engage the pto is most likley a bad sensor or wire unplugged on the seat sensor.the way it works is if the blades are turning and it dosent sense you being on the seat the mower shuts down.this has been standard on mowers for quite a few years now. it keeps the blades from cutting you up if you fall off the seat while mowing. as for charging i would try cleaning the battery connections and get the battery checked first.

SOURCE: turn off mower blades the electric clutch spins and the two green

There should be a metal "anchor" that bolts to the chassis or engine. It has a rod that sticks downward, fitting into a notch in the clutch to keep it from turning. It must be missing or broken, or maybe the clutch is the wrong model, and that's why the clutch itself spins and rips out the wires. Good luck! Please rate if you found this helpful, thanks!

when the seat goes out of adjustment due to the crappy adjustment bolt design, the bolt inadvertantly engages the safety switch under the seat.

Gravely zt 48hd starts, blades engage and start, but mower will not move forward or reverse after lowering brake. suggestions?

There should be a lever/engagement clutch on the back of the mower. It is disengaged when you manually push it. It will have to be engaged again to allow it to move.

Ok so the problem,on my gravely zt 2250 is was mowing went to shut blades off and they kept on spinning and there also spinning when trying start engine replaced clutch twice still same problem

Sound like either the PTO relay is struck in run position or the PTO switch has failed and applying 12v to the PTO relay even in the off position.

If the blades are PTO activated then you have wired the pto incorrectly

What causes fuse to blow every time I try to engage blades?

To engage the blades is it a knob to an electric switch that you pull?
If so does the wire from the switch activate a electric clutch?
Is the wire damaged and shorted to the frame, is the clutch shorted. If you provide the brand name and model number I might be able to find a schematic for your mower.

On john deere la150, if i sit on seat and engage blades,,,nothing, but when i lift of seat, blades engage and motor shuts off. Replaced seat switch and did not fix problem

"On john deere la150, if i sit on seat and engage blades,,,nothing, but when i lift of seat, blades engage and motor shuts off. Replaced seat switch and did not fix problem" Okay, what I'm hearing is that "nothing" means the blades-driving PTO won't engage (declutch) when you switch on mower; but then, (say) as you start to dismount the mower (seat) the mower (drive clutch) engages even as the deadman switch (seat switch) kills the engine (and the drive/pto shaft starts to slow down. The key here seems to be that at full engine torque the clutch is unable to remain engaged but, rather, slips so that mower blade inertia (resistence) cannot be overcome...but as engine/pto rotation slows the clutch is able not to slip. First place to consider is the clutch gap which is probably to0 large (possibly from wear and tear, possibly not). So check specs and how-to from manual or factory and reset the pto drive clutch gap...not hard to do. If clutch gap is not the problem then most likely rehab or replacement of the clutch assy will be needed...is the mower has many years use sufficient to wear out the clutch. Another possiblity is an electic (wring/switching/grounding) problem involving mower and deadman switches.

Check the all wiring from the engage blade button back to the electric clutch for worn spots that may be grounding out on the frame.

There is an "anchor" that bolts to the chassis, and it has a rod-like part that sticks up to engage a notch in the PTO clutch to keep it from spinning. Look here -- there are parts diagrams for your mower (find the right model number) that will help a lot. Good luck!

Engine dies when Blade is engaged

It sounds like the seat safety switch is the problem. Tilt up the seat and make sure the plug to the seat switch isn't loose or off completely, and that the switch is firmly mounted. If everything seems ok, remove the switch and test it with a multimeter. The circuit between the switch terminals should close when you press in the button. If not, replace it. Good luck!

Pto willl not engage

Hi mate, Although my trade is repairing turfcare machinery, I have no experience with this model, so I will try my best. Firstly, the clicking you hear will probably be the electric clutch engaging/dissengaging. Firstly, see if you can get the clicking with engine off, keyswitch in first position/on/lights on dash. You may have to place something heavy on the seat and have traction pedal in neutral. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT ENGAGE THE STARTER MOTOR/START THE ENGINE THROUGHT THIS!

Now have a look under the footwell on top of the deck and try to determine where the clicking is coming from, there will be a clutch there somewhere joining the engine drive pulley to a deck pulley, Also at this point check that both belts are on and with the ENGINE OFF! spin the blade/blades with your hand and ensure that the deck belts are not slipping on the deck pulleys. If they are you will need to establish where the tensioning system is. (Sorry i know pretty vague)

Back to the Clutch, once you establish where it is, engage the blades ENGINE OFF! and you should feel a greater resistance turning the blades as you are now turning the engine as well, beware though, it is theoretically possible to start the engine by doing this, but you will almost certainly not be able to spin the blades that quickly by hand.

If it is clicking to engage but not turning the engine pulley when spinning the blades by hand, then try tapping the clutch lightly as it may not be fully dissengaging.

I would put money on it being either one of the belts coming off/snapping, the blades jamming or the clutch not engaging fully.

If you find that the clicking is not the clutch engaging and its actually getting no power to the clutch then you need to go back to the pto switch and go through all safety switches! (good luck, it usually ends up with me bypassing them or running a new cable to the switch, then, smoke, shouting, swearing etc etc!) Either not advisable.

In doing all this you should have been able to have determined the problem be it one that I have mentioned or another.

Hope this helps,
Chris.
