If the blades are PTO activated then you have wired the pto incorrectly

SOURCE: Husquavarna GT2254 runs fine till I try to engage the blades,

Hello janec37415:

>>From your Description it Sounds like the Seat Safety Switch is Bad, has a Bad Connection or the Stator/Charging Coils are Not Charging Enough for the PTO to be Engaged.
>>When the Blade is Engaged, the Seat Switch is Showing No One is on the Seat so the Engine is Shut Off by the Safety System or
>>When the PTO is Engaged and the Stator/Charging Coils are Not Charging Correctly, the Carburetor Solenoid Does Not get enough Voltage to Stay Open and the Engine Quits.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy.

you may hav a bad alt. problem with the mower dying when you engage the pto is most likley a bad sensor or wire unplugged on the seat sensor.the way it works is if the blades are turning and it dosent sense you being on the seat the mower shuts down.this has been standard on mowers for quite a few years now. it keeps the blades from cutting you up if you fall off the seat while mowing. as for charging i would try cleaning the battery connections and get the battery checked first.

Gravely zt 48hd starts, blades engage and start, but mower will not move forward or reverse after lowering brake. suggestions?

There should be a lever/engagement clutch on the back of the mower. It is disengaged when you manually push it. It will have to be engaged again to allow it to move.

While I was cutting grass the Engine shut down. Pulled the brake up. Push the PTO back down to shut the blades down. I started the engine, engine runs perfect.

try replacing the battery most with an electric clutch PTO have to have a really strong battery as the alternator system is not strong enough by itself

Ok so the problem,on my gravely zt 2250 is was mowing went to shut blades off and they kept on spinning and there also spinning when trying start engine replaced clutch twice still same problem

Sound like either the PTO relay is struck in run position or the PTO switch has failed and applying 12v to the PTO relay even in the off position.

How to change the clutch on a gravely ZTR 260z. What keeps the clutch from spinning around on the engine shaft? A diagram of the clutch assembly would help. Instruction on removing and reinstalling might...

There is an "anchor" that bolts to the chassis, and it has a rod-like part that sticks up to engage a notch in the PTO clutch to keep it from spinning. Look here -- there are parts diagrams for your mower (find the right model number) that will help a lot. Good luck!

New starter will not turn over

Yes, this could happen if the safety switches aren't engaged, so make sure you have the brake on and the control levers are both in neutral, and the PTO is off.
If that isn't the problem, look at the connections to the solenoid. The solenoid and starter are in an assembly together, so I assume when you replaced the bad starter it came with a new solenoid. If you didn't get an exact replacement, it's possible the new solenoid requires both a hot and a ground connection, where the old one just required a hot wire (and grounded itself through its mounting to the engine block). Check this.

Engine dies when Blade is engaged

It sounds like the seat safety switch is the problem. Tilt up the seat and make sure the plug to the seat switch isn't loose or off completely, and that the switch is firmly mounted. If everything seems ok, remove the switch and test it with a multimeter. The circuit between the switch terminals should close when you press in the button. If not, replace it. Good luck!
