Sandisk sansa e260 reset?

I would like to reset my sansa e260 i need to get rid of all the files on it but when i try to delete them like normal I can't get rid of them off the player. they still show up but won't play. I also want to get rid of doubled up songs. I can't seem to edit my playlist anymore like add new songs since it's now saying that it's full even though I have no playable music on it. I want everything reset. back to how it was when i first bought it... please help?

Thank you. I've tried that but I think there's a bit more wrong with my player, since nothing comes up when i try it through windows media player. if i do try to delete anything through WMP it gives me an error either that the device is not responding or something else that ends up shutting down WMP. The first time i tried that it did delete the songs from the list on WMP but not off of my device. I could even still play some of them. now I can't play anything or see anything in the files on the computer. But the device still says it's full, and has my songs listed on the actual device, but won't play any of them.

When I try that, I get an error that says; The device was unable to complete the format.

Plug it into the usb port. The Sansa 260 will show up as the next drive letter. Using the right mouse button click on the drive latter and select format. This will will format your Sansa 260. The operating system files will still be there but all of your music, movies, voice recordings, etc... will be deleted.

Here's what I did. I plugged up my device and opened Windows Media Player. I went to the sync tab and clicked on the arrow below sync. A drop down menu should appear. I clicked on refresh devices. When I went back and tried to delete the files it worked. Hope this helps.

How do i reformat my Sansa e260 mp3 player? I want to erase everything off the player and have it like new again.

Reset All
If your device freezes up press the Menu button and hold for 15 seconds.
This is like a power down of the device. Once you perform the reset, the adjustments you made during last operation
will be gone.....
Go to my computer click on folder scroll to sansa and open the media folder and open each sub folder and delete manually then delete the folders Right click on your sansa then format a couple of times hope this works

Cannot delete file.

Most PMP's come with a format option in the settings menu. Back up any important files (if any) and format your player. This usually fixes most hard drive related problems.

Taking music off

Your SanDisk Sansa does not allow you to delete files from within the player.
Instead I recommend that you follow the steps below to delete the music1.gif
You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode...then make sure your device is plug in to the computer..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music and delete them from there.
Either under sync panel in your windows media player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click delete.
Hope this helps

P.S.Please rate accordingly...
Thank You

if you want to remove ALL songs from you sansa go to my computer right click the icon that refers to your sansa model and click format. this will delete all pictures, videos, voice recordings, preset radio stations, and music. this is the only way i have find to delete music permanently. before doing this make sure you have your files backed up. also you must be in MSC mode to do this.

Plug into your computer, click on the driver letter it represents, and empty all folders it displays. Don't delete the folders just delete the contents in each one.

Cant erase folders

I had this problem, too. The folders don't show up ON the mp3 player, right? Just on the computer? And do they have funny letters for the names? I've been trying to get rid of them for quite a few weeks now, and I've found that the only way to do that is to format. :(
