I need a reasonably priced audio interface to use with a remote synth and a MacBook (Garage Band). Any ideas?

I would go for getting someone else to record at studio, means they have all the professional ideas to bring to the table, solve problems, but if your just playing around in home a small focusrite 2/2 should do you, with 2 inputs for left and right mono from desk, or also dual linking in two separate channels via xlr.

When i turn my 10 band eq I hear a radio station

As cool as that might be for some people I am sure you find it a nuisance.
Check for loose or disconnected ground wires all the way from the instrument to the pedal, and inside the pedal.
It may be a cold solder joint as well (disconnecting something from ground, and letting the radio station sneak onto the signal line)
The EQ and anything connected to it could be the problem, but start with the pedal itself and then the instrument and it's cable.

When I play very softly, sound is muted and distorted, when I play hard sound comes back to normal? Can this be a problem with the lamps? Band-Master VM 40 watts. Thanks Pierre

Yes this could be a problem with dirty pots or tubes. I would suggest removing the tubes, and spraying the connection with some contact cleaner (can be bought in most electronic stores) then reconnecting the tubes. Also give all the nobs a spray and a good turn back and forth. Make sure to give all of them a good spray and turn.

Also clean the guitar jack, and the input jack on the head.

I have a marshall JCM 900 when I plug in my foot switch and try to play it pops and cracks .I know it's not the foot switch or my guitar.I checked the tubes they look alright so what part is broke in my...

I doubt that you have checked the tubes... tube checker's are rarity now and you can't look at a tube and "tell it is alright". If you leave the footswitch out does it do the same thing?
The probllem could be many things...and you haven't mentioned how you tested the items you are exhonorating. A common problem is a noisy or broken INPUT jack. Musicians forget to loop the guitar cord through the handle and the cord gets moved and yanked sideways wearing the jack and often breaking internal parts. Yjos also goes for the cord to the footswitch as well. Cords and connectors/jacks are the common problems. Less common but frequent are damaged volume control pots due to damage when handling... including broken solder where these attach to the circuit boards.

When we are trying to get a reasonable level of sound for vocals before it gets loud enough to be able to hear clearly with the band playing it starts to clip at the speakers now we are only using this set...

Proper level setting of the mixer is important. HOWEVER if the clipping is occuring at the speakers the only possible problem MIGHT be that you have a supersonic feedback that is saturating the speakers above your hearing range, Be sure you don't boost the highs too much with the EQ as this can cause the feedback that you can't hear. Also make sure that you power the speakers from the SAME receptacle as the mixer, even if it means running an extension cord to bring power to the mixer. This is to avoid a low frequency hum and common mode distortion/damage. A low frequency hum could cause the clipping.
It would be a good idea to get a sound meter to check the sound level. You should be able to reach 85 Db from this system without clipping. If you need more than that, you MAY need more speakers if the band instruments are too loud. Also if the band has amps that get into the vocal microphones that adds to the clipping level... make sure the mics don't "hear" the band instruments. Make sure your speakers are toward the audience from the mics to avoid the supersonic feedback problem. If the vocalists can't hear themselves with that configuration you need to set up seperate stage monitors.

There are some pretty good videos on YouTube about proper mixer level setup.

When opened, case will not stay open. Band between top portion and bottom at bottom appears to be twisted or incorrectly glued.

YOU CAN TRY TO RE GLUE THE BAND. JUST MAKE SURE THE TENSION ON THE BAND IS FAIRLY FIRM. THIS WILL HELP IT STAY OPEN BETTER.

Loading an MPC5000 with midi files

if the mpc has GM soundbank then this should be possible. You might be better off recording the audio from a suitable GM unit first of all before gigging with it, then you can make it sound the way you want and change the key to suit etc.
